Today I witnessed the governing body of this province's infastructure brought to its knees as the result of a malfunctiong fax machine. After being politely told to wait for the situation to be rectified, I watched in horror as the invigilators of permits and requisition sought to fix the problem by picking up and putting down various phones. After an hour of this I was told that I was indeed responsible for the malfunction and as punishment was sent to a library to print off the required details. Upon my return to service ontario I was informed that my punishment had not yet concluded and was forced to wait sullenly in one of the office's drab corners. Finally, a glimmer of hope as I approached the bench. "I have completed all the tasks you have set forth for me on this day," I say to the woman representative. She eyes me up and down and a grim smile briefly plays across her face. "Let me take another look at these forms." She perused the forms for the third time on this day. "Ah yes it is quite clear that you are completely responsible for all the malfunctions to our vast network that reaches across the great province of Ontario." Unnerved I look at my forms trying to identify where I had gone wrong. The lady taps a corner of the page. "Wrong date." I look at her; perplexion clearly visible on my face. "Because you entered the wrong date our systems have gone down, the fax machines, the debit terminal, even my own frame of mind has been damaged all because you thought tomorrow was today." I look around the office and indeed the fax machine is smouldering, sparks shoot from phones, and smoke begins to curl out of the ears of the several ladies who all eye me with extreme disdain. How could have I known? I was simply going through the motions. I muster the strength for me next question: "what next?" They lady shakes her head sadly and replies, "firing squad." The office goes silent. All transactions cease and a woman carrying a small child inhaled sharply. This Kafkaesque morning has finally concluded and I hang my head in shame. "Please sir you will have to step back and fill out the proper forms for your execution via firing squad." She hands me the forms. "Please get the date right this time; otherwise you'll have to fill out an exhumation and re-execution form." I write this to you all waiting in line for the firing squad along with a man who wrote the wrong date of birth on his health card, and a lady who made the mistake of coming to service ontario rather than 'full-service ontario'. We are the damned. I beg forgiveness.

Convenient and quick and in a great location downtown. Plus, I'm old enough to remember the old driver's license office where you had to spend the day.
