I feel weird reviewing Service Canada. But it was super smooth! Booked an appointment online, showed up, they were right on time with my appointment. Had a bit of chit chat, the staff member asked a couple of questions, then got to work on my passport and SIN. I was in and out for two things in under 15min!
This is my official complaint and utter condemnation of the Service Canada Centre at Gerrard Square.nnLet’s start with the human brick wall you have stationed at the front counter. To call his demeanor “robotic” would be an insult to robots, which are at least programmed to be efficient. This individual offered zero eye contact, no greeting, not a shred of a smile. It was like interacting with a scowling, bipedal slab of concrete. He treated my presence as an inconvenience, my questions as an irritation.nnRemember this: you are a PUBLIC SERVANT. The word “servant” is right there in the title. Your salary is paid by my taxes. You are not my boss, not my superior, and you certainly do not get to look at citizens with that expression of pure disdain. Your “disgusting” face and attitude were the first impression of this federal office, and it was a revolting one.nnI didn’t even get the service I needed. I left after a few questions because the interaction was so dehumanizing and hostile. The arrogance was breathtaking. Being a federal government employee does not put you above the people you serve! It makes you accountable to them. I think you have forgotten your fundamental duty.nnThat individual requires immediate and rigorous customer service training. He needs to learn basic human interaction. Until then, consider me someone who will go miles out of my way to avoid this specific centre. You failed, completely and utterly. Behave yourselves.
10/10 Experience!nnFrom the moment we walked in, the service for our passport renewal was absolutely outstanding. We were warmly greeted, and every step of the process was handled smoothly and professionally. Efficient, courteous, and clearly organized.nnBut one person truly stood out: Rada. She was so pleasant, knowledgeable, and incredibly efficient. She managed everything with ease and a genuine smile, making what could have been a stressful errand quick and enjoyable.nnThank you, Rada, for your exceptional service and for a truly stellar experience. Highly recommend!
Most experiences I’ve had at Service Canada have been brilliant barring this one. The man at the front desk is most unprofessional. I had an appointment and the man at the front desk was rude right from the start. I had forgotten a signature and I understand that these are required so I said I can get these signed and come back the next day and stand in line. The man said, ABSOLUTELY NOT. You must bring your wife since ‘people like you’ misuse the system. I was taken aback by the statement which was followed by, ‘many like you are frauds’. This is appalling esp coming from a public servant. He refused to give me his name or call his supervisor. I don’t know what the centre is like, but this employee needs to be trained or let go since he is not fit for any office which demands interaction with the public.
Zero wait time for passport application even without an appointment. The people working there are kind and helpful. We arrived about 11am on a Thursday; we had two first-time passport applications and we were in & out within 40 minutes. Go on canada.ca/passport ahead of time so you can have the necessary documents with you and the form filled out before you arrive. If you are applying for the first time as a new citizen naturalized citizen be sure to bring your citizenship certificate and at least one ID issued in Canada, like for example your health card, in addition to your passport from your home country. It's taking 5 weeks to receive passports by mail so don't use this office if you need to travel outside Canada sooner than that.
