Wonderful spot for vegan and gluten-free dining. All the staff is so friendly and accommodating, making me feel confident in what I’m ordering and knowing that if I have a dietary specification they will help. We went a number of times in the winter when it was take-out only and recently dined in for lunch. Delicious and unique food with similarities to typical Indian restaurants but more veggies and originality which I love. We ate with someone who couldn’t have garlic and they were able to omit which was amazing.
We're in Ellsworth, visiting Maine from Savannah, Ga. One of the best Indian restaurants we've been to anywhere! We got the lunch special, Foraged Mushroom soup, Mulligatawny soup, Naan with chutneys and a chickpea curry. Really delicious, all of it!
Service was very good; attentive at the right time and well informed on the selections! And talk about amazing food!! We ordered soup before dinner, and liked it so much we ordered some to go...and did the same with the potato side the potato's are destined for what is shaping up to be a legendary breakfast!. The entrees were equally amazing, and the portions were perfect...not too small, not too much. We ordered the Korma and a Red Curry with shrimp. Dessert was tasty, something called Love Cake...semolina, cashews and candied pumpkin...WOW! We will be back on a regular basis!
Serendib is by far one of the best spots in downtown Ellsworth. The food and flavors never disappoint! We are so grateful to have this gem to dine in or take away :
It's an ok place overall. Definitely not what I was expecting. I went here about a week or so ago. The menu is way smaller than I was hoping it would be and the main dishes are pretty much the same aside from getting to choose your protein. It's fairly expensive as well. I did like the service though.
Best meal I can remember. Absolutely fantastic food, complex flavors that are very distinct. I had their mutton special recently and it blew my mind. The lamb meatballs and the sauce were spectacular. EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious! The soup! Yum! I will add that I have an exceptional sense of smell and taste and eating here was beyond amazing because I could taste the variety and complexity of the flavors in everything! Keep it up! We can’t wait to go through the whole menu!
Food and service was phenomenal! Highly recommend to anyone in the area looking for a delicious vegetarian dish.
I am a Sri Lankan and my sons and I really enjoyed the food. We ordered mixed rice, wild boar , goat meat, rice and curry and pol rotti. Their liquor prices are one of the lowest. Good service
Best stop of the day. Late lunch. Epic food, friendly service, prompt delivery. Blow up your taste buds and check this place out - you will NOT be disappointed. My highest recommendation.
We have been to Serendib in Ellsworth twice and have taken out about three times in addition. Each experience has been outstanding in all aspects, atmosphere, service, and food. The flavors are tremendously compelling, familiar in style and yet totally unique from other south asian cuisine we have had. In all cases we have started with the sour fish curry over rice and I believe you will be missing out if you don't do likewise. Bright, savoury, and outright delicious, this is a dish that should not be passed by. Also noteworthy is the mixed rice, served with beef, chicken, mushroom, or eggplant. I chose the eggplant and will now not be content until I have tried all versions of this dish. Perhaps this review is premature. I will not be satisfied until I have tried all that Serendib has to offer ... And then it will be time to start from the beginning again. If you are in Ellsworth, Serendib is a MUST.
