I’ve been to Selfology multiple times now as a Groupon customer and had consistently good experiences. The staff has been friendly and helpful, the facility clean, and treatments individualized to my preferences. I’ve found the best way to book an appointment is to call and leave a message/email - they usually text or email me back within a few days.Services: HydraFacial
I would give 0 stars if I could. Every negative review regarding impossible appointment booking, groupon vouchers, and lack of communication are spot on. I got a refund from Groupon thankfully but the time I wasted with the people running this business I will unfortunately never get back. don't waste yours!
I did a couple’s massage and facial at Selfology a month ago and it was amazing. Very relaxing, they customize it for your liking/skin type, very professional and friendly. I went back for a facial today and I left feeling relaxed, refreshed and with beautiful skin. I noticed a positive change in my skin after my first facial and today I left with my skin being extremely soft and my pores are smaller. She gave me advice and suggestions based on my skin type which was very helpful. Their original location is under construction, I believe? and they are renting space in a beauty/nail salon. It was very clean and comfortable. The bad reviews seem to be based on their booking service. At first it seemed a little hard to reach them but now that I book my next session in person once I’m there I have had no issues. We had to reschedule our original couples massage and they responded to our email right away and were very courteous and understanding. We were able to reschedule without an issue. I would definitely recommend going here based on my experience.
I got the one love coloured hair package and was not disappointed! Contrary to bad reviews, I had little problems booking my appointment and Selfology was quick to get back and confirm with me. I highly recommend Kawal! she gave me exactly what I wanted and I have never been so satisfied with my hair. ALSO, Great Price, friendly staff and location!
TLDR at the bottom. I bought a Groupon for a wash, massage, cut, treatment, and style. I didn’t have too much of a problem setting up an appointment. The process was a little long and odd, but I booked yesterday afternoon and had an appointment for today in the morning. Most of it was done via text, plus a confusing email process. I also had to sign up for an account on their website for booking. A bit of background: I’ve had my hair cut to a bob length six times within the last three years at four other hair salons. This is a haircut I am very familiar with now, and I know how to ask for it as well as manage it myself at home. Everything was going great - you lie on a massage chair to get your hair washed, it’s very relaxing. I was late ten minutes and they were very understanding about it. My hairdresser started snipping away, and even that was fine - length isn’t a huge issue since I’ve gotten it cut very short before. I asked for a little bit of layers to take away some thickness because I have your typical Asian hair, and for the hair at the back of my head to be shorter than the front, a gradual slope, like I always get. All was good until she held up a mirror and showed me the back of my head. I literally looked like a mushroom with a stem. The top layers were and still are, of course much too short in relation to the rest of the layers, and the bottom layer very visibly reached a good three inches past it. Mushroom. With. A. Stem. Either that, or like I had a mullet. My hair was a ball with three inches of straight hair going down in the back. I asked for the layers to be blended more/subtler, and after another hairdresser stepped in and explained how it would work, my original hairdresser started snipping away again, saying she’d advised me to go shorter the entire time and I’d declined. Um, you created the need for a shorter bottom layer when you completely botched my top layer. You created a need to go back in and trim when you cut the top layer so short. You honestly can’t create a problem yourself then say “I told you so.” What you see in the photos is what my hair looks like now. Note the huge difference in length of layers. It’s incredibly difficult for me to manage at home. I go back to short hair so I can wash and dry and style it quickly, and with this haircut I can’t. I’ve never had a problem getting a bob in the past three years until today, and I really think it all comes down to my hairdresser having no clue how to cut asian hair. It’s not textured, it’s not fine, it’s not wavy. It’s straight, thick, sometimes wiry, and heavy. If she hadn’t gotten so snip happy with the layers, maybe I wouldn’t even be writing this. TLDR: bought $29 Groupon, good value, good pre-haircut, traumatising actual haircut, looked like mushroom, explained that I looked like mushroom, went home a shorter mushroom, went to work and heard things like: - It’s good...until the back - Can I take a picture of the back for you? I don’t think you know how bad it is - I’ll cut it off - She did great here but then THIS PART - /pulls on mullet-like tuft of hair in the back TLDR #2: Go if you have long hair/don’t need precise cutting. AVOID like the PLAGUE if you want short hair, ESPECIALLY if you have Asian hair. I’ve already booked an appointment at another hair salon for Monday to fix this.
Hard to get ahold of to make an appointment, sending an email worked best for me, once I got in contact with them it was easy to make an appointment. Salon itself was a cute boutique salon with one of the most comfortable hair washing stations I've ever been in. Hair wash service was great. My stylist was on time and very polite and professional. However, I got a bad haircut which I am bummed about because I had high hopes. I had a grown out blunt one length bob and I asked for a trim to have it freshened up. I wanted the same, a one length blunt bob. I got a misshaped uneven mess of a haircut that was hard to tell until the next day when I straightened my hair the stylist had curled it, which I agreed to when she asked me if I was sure I wanted it straightened. The back 2 inches are shorter than the sides, then it kind of goes longer then shorter then longer, almost like an attempt an an angled bob gone wrong. So the hassle of making an appt. and the actually haircut being bad, I give 2 stars.

I've had a couple's massage and facial here, and also a hair cut, full highlights, and treatment. I've always felt like a million bucks everytime I walk out. The space itself is really, really small, and it often feels cramped, but during my actual treatments I've always been comfortable. The hair washing station was very comfortable as well, and didn't make my neck hurt.
Big thank you first of all to Yumi and Isabelle who did a wonderful job and were so polite and professional. Seeing all the negative reviews on this business, I was very hesitant to give them a shot when I saw a deal on Groupon but I AM SO GLAD I DID. My boyfriend and I got the couples hot stone massage with 2 add ons and we both loved it. We were both surprised by the number of negative reviews so here are some details on our positive experience. Booking Process: I did not have any real issues making my booking and I anticipated difficulties given all the negative reviews. The booking process can probably be more streamlined and automated but I didn’t have any problems. First I had to submit an online request to book an appointment through their website, then wait for correspondence. It didn’t take very long for them to text me it was within 24 hours, and I was given options for the next availability. I had purchased my Groupon months prior and it was going to expire before the next available spot, but they were very accommodating and accepted my Groupon even after the expiration date. This is very much appreciated and contributed to my positive first time experience with them, contrary to a lot of the negative reviews I read. A suggestion I would make to the business would be to switch to any of the turnkey technological solutions available nowadays to automate and minimize booking friction and even reduce the staff overhead needed to manage bookings. Communication: After I made my appointment, I later received another text message the same day to inform me that there was a last minute cancellation and an earlier booking had opened up. I was unable to take it but I appreciated the text nonetheless. Then, 48 hours prior to my appointment I got a text prompting me to confirm my appointment. Finally, the day before my appointment I received another text with a COVID screening questionnaire. I think the level of communication was perfect. Service: We got the couples hot stone massage, mini facial and body wrap add ons. Both of our aestheticians were very attentive to our needs and thorough in explaining the services. They offered water and tea and made sure to check throughout the service that the hot stone temperatures were good and that we were comfortable. Following our service, we were advised that while the deal may still be on Groupon, it’s only valid for first time customers, and we were presented with other options for repeat customers which I found to be fair. At checkout, we were informed that we would need to pay the $9 tax on the Groupon and this is literally no different than other Groupon deals I’ve used so it was not at an issue. While every experience is different and reviews are a good way to gauge a business, I really hope that anyone who has taken the time to read this long review will decide to give this business a chance. I’m so glad that I didn’t experience any of the troubles reported by other people and hope that anyone else who comes across that deal on Groupon will consider going to Selfology and have just aS positive an experience as we did. We will be coming back!
