Worst Scotiabank Ive ever seen. Good luck doing anything with a Teller if you work a 9-5 because they only work 8:30 to 3pm. Doesnt care about customers at all.
Assistant branch manager decided a deposit I had received wasn't for me. Because of that, she moved money out of my TFSA and said she was sending it back. I told her its fine to send it back, as I had already notified the source it was going back.nnI requested to know when she was sending it back, but she ignored me and locked me out of my account. Requests for my accounts to be closed have also been ignored. So 10s of thousands of dollars are god knows where, and they messed up my TFSA contribution room. Dont bank here if you like having access to your money
My Muslim wife went to Scotiabank in oromocto newbrunswick 1198 onondaga st she was treated with utter disrespect and carelessness, the teller denied her service to exchange currency due to her not being a Scotia card holder, even though that is not a requirement to exchange currency. she immediately went to TD bank where she was greeted with kindness and respect even though she doesn’t hold a td bank card and was helped out with exchanging currency. This behaviour from staff at Scotiabank is inappropriate and unbecoming.
DO NOT TRUST SCOTIABANK OROMOCTO!!nThey cost me my land purchase. When I went I to speak to their financial advisor to see how much money I would have if I cashed in my rrsp I was told they have to charge 10% tax minimum, and that that would leave me owing at tax time. I said it didn't matter because I have thousands of dollars in deductions anyway. She advised me all I had to do was call in and it could be switched over to my savings account. So I started my search. As everyone knows real estate prices are sky high right now, so it took me a while to find a place and make an offer. It was excepted so I called my scotiabank oromocto advisor and told her I needed the money switched over at the 10% tax rate. She informed me that the minimum tax rate is 20%. I pointed out this was not what she said before, and she informed me the government sets the tax rate, and the minimum she could charge me would be 20% and told me how much money would get. I was annoyed at being misinformed, but as I would still have just enough money to complete the transaction. I confirmed the amount I needed before ending the call. I paid the deposit on the property and waited for my rrsp money. Today I check my account and found the rrsp money was partially there, but 10% of it was missing. I again called my scotiabank oromocto advisor to ask where the rest of the money is. She now informs me that I was charged 30% tax and that that is the government minimum. When I asked her why she told me first 10%, then 20% when it's actually 30% she didn't even have the courage to admit her mistake and simply told me it had always been 30% and that she told me 30% and that she gave me the reduced total on the phone. That isn't true, but as I didn't think to record our conversation I can't do much. I went to the bank and spoke to the manager who treated me as a hostile party, not as a customer who had been wronged. She listen to my story, then pulled out paperwork that shows the government charges 30% tax no matter how much you make or how many dependents you have. When I tried to tell her about how I didn't have enough money for the property now, and how I wouldn't have put down a deposit if I knew I didn't have enough money she kept interrupting me to reinform me that they have to charge 30%. The problem is not that they have to charge 30%, the problem is because their financial advisor didn't know what she was doing I am now going to lose my entire deposit as well as the property. She apologised multiple times for their mistake as I closed all my accounts, and told me I should try and get a loan.nnDo not trust Scotiabank. Their staff is not well enough trained to know the answers to your financial questions.
Had a really bad experience with one of your representative on feb 27 2024 around 13h15. I had to repeat twice all time to be understood. This was a really bad interaction. As a customer service you supposed to help not to act that way with customers.
