ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum

About

ScienceWorks is home to nearly 100 interactive exhibits and offers classes for all ages. Our mission is to inspire wonder and stimulate exploration through fun interactive science and the arts.

Story

ScienceWorks is home to nearly 100 interactive exhibits that encourage children and adults to learn about more about various scientific principles. The museum currently uses all of the available 17,000 square feet of exhibit space and has created outdoor educational opportunities on its three acres of land including the Climb Through Time geologic climbing wall and a Solar Powered Nursery. The majority of exhibits have been built in-house in a state-of-the-art fabrication studio.

ScienceWorks is a member of the Association of Science and Technology Centers and the Northwest Association of Youth Museums. ScienceWorks is fast becoming a regional resource, serving both the people of Ashland and attracting visitors to the city. Members come from as far away as Roseburg, Klamath Falls, Cave Junction and Mt Shasta. Over 86% of museum visitors come from outside of Ashland.

ScienceWorks exhibits have received national and international attention and have been sold to the Singapore Science Center, Technopolis in Belgium, Miami Museum of Science, Calgary Science Centre and museums in the U.S.

Mission

To inspire wonder and stimulate creative exploration through fun interactive science and the arts.

I love this place! It's fascinating, fun, educational, and great for kids, parents, and grandparents. There is so much to do and I live that each display or play area has scientific explanations so you can understand what is happening ... besides pure fun! Definitely check out the scream booth and the shadow room, but give yourself lots of time to see--and play--with everything. And I'm not just referring to kids playing! This grandmother had just as much fun as my grandkids ... maybe more!

What a great place this is. Many, many hands on displays where you can experiance the effects of wind, sound, electricity, visual phenomena, and play areas that are just plain fun. Great place for kids and adults alike. You can spend hours here!

Very cool hands-on stuff for kids. They had kids building little towns out of cardboard as a project when I was there. Nice exhibits that are entertaining and intrigue children.
