We were excited to stay here because of the location but I was quite disappointed after our stay.nOur room smelt like cigarette smoke.nThe blanket on my bed was dirty and had holes in it. The carpet was wet when we checked in.nThe hotel has so much potential, the lobby is stunning and location is great and the front desk staff were accommodating but the rooms could use some maintenance and upgrading to help get rid of the terrible smell and dingy feel.nI also was in the lobby and thought I would ask the bar or restaurant to fill my water bottle but there was nobody to be found.
Sawridge Inn & Conference Centre Edmonton – Honest ReviewnnI recently stayed at the Sawridge Inn & Conference Centre in Edmonton, and I came away with mixed feelings. This is not intended to be a negative review but rather constructive feedback that I hope the owners will consider.nnThe positives first: the hotel was clean, and my room was very spacious, which I appreciated. The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and other amenities just minutes away, making it a very convenient place to stay.nnThat said, the property is in dire need of renovation. The overall atmosphere feels more like a retirement residence than a modern hotel. While it may have been impressive years ago, it now looks dated and would benefit greatly from a complete refresh.nnThe guest room, especially the bathroom, needs urgent attention. The bathtub had visible cracks along the sides, and the tub floor was extremely slippery. There was no bath mat provided, which is a safety concern. The toilet seat was also unusually low, making it less comfortable to use.nnIn the bedroom, the built-in power outlets in the bedside lamps were so loose that charging plugs would not stay connected properly. The furniture throughout the room is showing its age, and fresh paint along with updated furnishings would make a significant difference to the overall experience.nnThe lobby also leaves room for improvement. It is quite small, with a tiny reception area, and feels dark because there is very little natural light. A brighter, more welcoming entrance would create a much better first impression for guests.nnOne area that surprised me was the front desk service. I asked the receptionist for advice on the best way to get to the Edmonton Heritage Festival since many roads were closed. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to offer any guidance and simply suggested that I Google it. Local knowledge and helpful recommendations are something guests often expect from hotel staff, especially during major city events.nnOverall, I believe this hotel has great potential. Its cleanliness, spacious rooms, and excellent location are definite strengths. However, the aging facilities and lack of modernization hold it back from providing the experience that today’s travelers expect.nnI hope the owners invest in renovating the property because, with some thoughtful upgrades and improved guest service, this hotel could once again become one of Edmonton’s standout places to stay.
We had a great stay at the Sawridge Inn & Conference Centre Edmonton South! For the price we paid, the quality was excellent — clean, comfortable rooms and a very comfortable bed that gave us a solid night’s rest.nnThe staff was friendly and helpful during check in. The room had a refrigerator and coffee maker, which was convenient no microwave, but that wasn’t an issue for us — just something to plan for if you need one.nnOverall a reliable, comfortable choice in Edmonton. We’d definitely stay here again!
Great Stay, but the Steak Needs a RethinknWe stayed at the Sawridge Hotel & Conference Centre in South Edmonton and, overall, had a great experience. Check‑in was smooth, the staff were friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable — exactly what you hope for when you finally get to drop your bags and relax.nBut then came dinner at the in house restaurant!!!nI ordered a rib‑eye steak, expecting, you know… a rib‑eye steak — thick, juicy, seared properly, all the things a steak should be. Instead, what arrived at the table was about ¼‑inch thick, which is not a rib‑eye… that’s a beef sheet. A steak that thin doesn’t get seared; it just accepts its fate. There was no chance of hitting a proper medium cook, unless the chef had superpowers I’m unaware of. For the price, it was definitely disappointing — a premium tag on something that would lose a fight with a stiff breeze.nThankfully, my daughter ordered the chicken curry with rice, and that actually was good. Nice flavour, good portion, no complaints. But let’s be honest — if she had gotten the steak instead, she probably would’ve asked why her dinner looked laminated.nAll jokes aside, the hotel itself is great, the service was warm, and we’d absolutely stay again. But next time, we’ll be steering clear of the steak unless they start cutting them thicker than a tortilla.nnTo the owner, I'm returning May 7th even though I haven't completed a reservation yet, comparing price's first!
I checked in at shift change 4:00PM on Sunday the 29th. I can not remember the woman and man's name that helped me but they were absolutely AMAZING!!! Extremely kind and caring and very accommodating for our needs as I was travelling with my baby for a medical appointment. We then later ordered from their restaurant which was very yummy and large servings. The bartender at the time was such a kind gentleman and our food was done so fast! We will absolutely be staying here again for our future visits. The room was very large and very clean. 10/10 service all around.
