Staff Lunch today, new Taphouse menu and as with everywhere else pricing has increased. Salad was good however recipe has definitely changed. No bacon. Guys enjoyed the burgers however again recipe has changed. Price changes and quality of meals reflect in stars.
Service was a bit spotty. We received the wrong pizza but they did come over and rectify that. Asked for sauce on the side for the chicken wings and didn’t get that and had to ask for cutlery Food was ok. We had the pizza and black and blue burgs. The burgs were quite tasty however the beef patty was way over cooked so was dry. Too bad cuz the taste was there. The blue cheese wasn’t overpowering at all. I’d recommend but ask they don’t overlook the party! We had the smoked chicken wings but they had NO Smokey flavour at all. Not bad but again we didn’t get our sauce on the side. Pizzas are average. I would not recommend. They have a huge selection of craft beer though!
Wonderful setting , great service , the menu has good variety but not sure what the big deal about the pizza dough balls is to be honest , maybe if you filled them up with cheese Little Caesar’s garlic bread it’s much better! Also maybe more cider selection would complement some of your dishes. Overall a great experience!
The Salt and Cumin wings were a good twist for Chicken Wings. The fish tacos and chowder were good. The kids Grilled Cheese is great if the littles love LOTS of cheese. The kids pizza was pretty good. Service was good.
Very nice spot. We insisted mid afternoon so not a lot of patrons. Had some craft beer they have soooo many along with shareable smoked meatballs and chili prawns. So good!! Looks like the ambiance is great for dinners with the decor and lighting. Bartender was very friendly.
We like searching out new places on Vancouver Island that support the craft brewing industry and so we decided to take a small detour off the highway to Victoria and visit Sawmill Taphouse & Grill in Chemainus. We visited early afternoon for a late lunch and we were very happy with our decision to stop. The restaurant area is quite large and it has an outdoor patio as well. The ceilings are high and the décor is very nice and I think at night when the lights are turned on it would look quite cozy with all the wood paneling. There is parking down below in the mall parking lot but I recommend parking on the street up above at restaurant level to avoid climbing stairs. If entering on that level the restaurant is fully accessible. The menu is diverse and quite large and my husband and I were very pleased with our food. He enjoyed the fish tacos and I had pulled pork in a bun with fries and a salad. Everything was delicious, the portions were a good size, plated nicely and priced reasonably. The drinks menu was very nicely laid out by categories with explanations about styles and you could order sampler flights of beer, wine and cider which was very nice. The craft beer selection was good supporting local BC & Vancouver Island Breweries. Everything considered, this is a restaurant that we know we will return to and will be recommending to friends.
Was long overdue to visit again and it was just as amazing as I remembered! We shared thr fry bread and pesto dip before our pizzas. SOO delish. Solid menu additions from the last time I visited! Parking: Minimal parking in front. Lots of parking in the plaza below but limits options for those who cannot do stairs or don't want to walk mins around the building to the road.

A great place to eat and drink in Chemainus. Hearty and filling food and great beverages. Highly recommend this place . Wheelchair accessibility: Not suitable for wheelchair access. We parked in the handicap spot down below but had to climb the stairs because the elevator was not accessible.
