Story

To Know where you are going… you need to know where you have been. The fabric of what makes Sapori Italian Restaurant unique was woven in a place and time where things move a little slower, are made a little bit fresher and leave a lasting impression, a little bit longer, Sicily Italy.
Sicily has always been viewed as the crossroads of the Mediterranean. Because of the vast influences of cultures that have passed through over the centuries, Sicily has a distinct culture from the rest of Italy. Sicily’s agriculture is renowned for its high quality. Its tropical temperature, fertile soil and ideal conditions make Sicilian olive oils, fish, fruits and vegetables some of the best in the world. While many of its foods are part of the traditional Italian cuisine, its use of nutmeg, clove and cinnamon show an influence from Arab and Greek settlers. Sapori Italian Restaurant brings a family friendly atmosphere. Growing up in Sicily, our chef not only learned how to choose the best products, he also made a business out of it. As a family business, Chef Salvatore grew up in his family’s supermarket where fresh produce, meats and cheese were sold daily. Chef Salvatore quickly learned what top quality products were and what demand they had. As he grew, he attended culinary school in Erice, Sicily. There he took his understanding of top quality products and learned to create amazing dishes through proper culinary technique. Upon graduation, he opened his first restaurant La Buona Forchetta, “The Good Fork.” His restaurant thrived and his reputation grew.
Now in Washington Township MI, Chef Salvatore has brought his lifetime of experience, knowledge and recipes to offer a unique dining experience. His mastery of Italian cuisine is based on the fundamentals of what makes Italian food loved by all, fresh ingredients, simply prepared that make you feel at home!
