Sid and Derar were amazing. We got to the location early, basically so that we could utilize the parking prior to check-in as we were attending an afternoon Whitecaps game.nnWe were able to check in early as our room was ready and they gave us a complementary upgrade! Not to mention, we had contacted the property by email a couple of times with questions and those messages were answered promptly and courteously.nnOverall very impressed with the service we have received. The room is clean and comfortable and is right across the street from BC Place, which is why we are in town!
Our room had a pool of water soaking into the carpet. I stepped on it, and it was a softened spot in the floor. We asked for a different room, they tried to put us on the third floor which was so loud and crowded that people were hanging out in the hallway. Asked for a different room again. This room seemed okay at first, until the drunken party on our floor got really loud. There were obnoxious people blasting music and singing along so loudly, we couldn’t hear the tv. People were yelling in the halls. I called the front desk and the woman I spoke to couldn’t seem to understand me. I couldn’t understand her either because she couldn’t speak English. She did nothing about the situation of course. After another half hour I called the front desk again and someone else answered. This person had just started his shift. He called security and that solved it. I decided to have a bath and unwind, the bathtub actually looked nice. The plug didn’t work though so another disappointment. Honestly this is the worst. It’s expensive and I wish I hadn’t wasted money on it. It’s not worth anything. I regret coming here and I will never come back. But I will tell the story to everyone I know and anyone that will listen. What a disappointment.
When I travel, I most often stay at Sandman properties when that option is available. I hadn’t stayed at this location for 15 years but decided to give it a go due its close proximity to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. We booked two rooms because I was traveling with my teenage children and both rooms were newly renovated, clean and well-appointed with a mini fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer and microwave. The new shower was lovely with both a rainfall shower head and a hand held one. The beds were as always super comfortable with lots of fluffy pillows. I’m almost always cold, so I appreciated that there was an extra blanket and pillow in the room. The only hiccup was that our rooms were not ready upon our arrival. We were able to check into one room at 4:30 but didn’t get into the other room until after 6:00. Given that we had plans to have dinner and then see a show at 7:30, this was less than ideal.nBoth the upside and the downside to this property is its excellent location - close to sporting events, live theatre and shopping - which makes it a very busy place. The two restaurants are hopping both before and after events. Lots of drunk hockey fans but we are in Canada, after all. The elevators are notorious slow, so we often opted to take the stairs instead.nAll things considered, I will stay at this property again.
Great location, good value, and excellent service. Sid and Derar went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable and comfortable. This was my first visit to the hotel, would gladly stay here again on future trips.
My partner and I came to this hotel for our 3 year anniversary and Sid and Derar hooked us up with a corner suite that has a beautiful view! When we asked for robes they brought them to our room right away. They even put a little card and snacks for us in the room when we arrived. Also the pool was quiet and the hottub was nice too!
