This State Park on the Oregon side of the Columbia River has fantastic views whether you are looking across the river to the Washington scenery or along the Oregon river front but perhaps the view upstream where the river curves between both sides of the waterway as you look towards HWY 12 is the most spectacular view this is a great family place as well as an place for individuals to come camp out or enjoy RV outings there is a great beach for swimming and you can catch some nice fish too as well as a great place for getting your tan without anyone bothering you about being light skinned or what your body shape is there is daily maintenance of the park grounds, an 2 unisex restroom but be sure to bring your camping food and other items an make sure you have gas because the closest small convinance store is about 10 miles away an a bit on the costly side for just your basic items an the closest gas station is a good 15 or miles away an there is no free running water unless you have some kind of a water purifying system which are the only drawbacks to what I consider a place that everyone young and old would definitely enjoy regardless what kind of lifestyle is your preference your bound to find someone like yourself there in due time or invite someone to come along with you or better yet an group of people that you know or others that you may have met online so you can all get together and make new friends and enjoy the beauty of nature that surround you

Nice place to enjoy a picnic and a bit of a soak. Plenty of space for multiple families and parties to be there without feeling crowded. Each table comes with a post grill.

It was SO HOT when I was travelling by bike through this area -- But Sand Station was such a refreshing refuge from the sizzling afternoon heat -- a welcomed little oasis!
There are some trees, nice picnic tables, a decent sandy beach, pit toilets, and NO running WATER.
Also, there is an expensive view of the river, and a lovely place to enjoy songbirds.

This is one of the last campgrounds in Oregon that allows campers to stay without pay for 14 days in a row! The rules ask you not to overnight camp there for 14 days after that but there are options. Peaceful at nite, lazy by day, it even has roped off swimming area,NO LIFEGUARDSa,and permanent outhouse bathrooms, and a payphone. Some spots up above offer concrete slabs with picnic tables and roof s to fend off direct sun during the scorching summers. Sites closer to the Columbia river, have concrete slabs with aluminum tables and benches ,BBQ'S and fire rings. BRING FIREWOOD. This is my favorite place. The only drawback is the homeless people drinking and using illegal substances on occasion. I have never witnessed any violence here and most people are quite nice. Update. The park has been reduced to a rest stop.
