Pictures Don't Do It Justice - A MUST-SEE!nnI'm an avid cathedral-visitor, traveling across the US and overseas to see them. Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre is one of my top five must-see cathedrals.nnIt's one of eight national shrines in Canada and became renowned for the many miracles that have occurred within. In fact, one of its pillars is covered in crutches and other testimonials of those who have been healed during a pilgrimage here.nnThe cathedral has a lower and upper level, as well as an outdoor walkway adorned with statues, fountains, and 12 life-sized Stations of the Cross. The interior contains 52 depictions of the life of Christ, as well as 24 capitals. The inside is simply vast--far larger than even its colossal exterior may lead you to believe. You can easily spend hours taking in the decor, gothic architecture, and history. I've done my best to capture it with pictures, but even these hardly do it justice.nnIf you have a chance to visit, or have it available as a tour stop, take the opportunity to see it in person. You won't forget the experience.

The highlight of our 4.5 hr Viatour trip out of Quebec City was a visit to the imposing Basilica and the holy statue of Sainte Anne within. Even non-believers may be impressed by the solemnity and architectural features of this holy structure, approaching some of the best in Europe. Fire destroyed the first Basilica in 1922 and the restoration began the following year. The repousse doors were the work of a nearby craftsman who specializes in that creative art-form. The stained glass windows overlook intricate mosaic tile flooring, carved statuary and oak pews. Several columns have attached crutches, attesting to the miracles that occurred to those in need. Unfortunately, we had only 45 minutes to contemplate and wander the grounds before our return trip to Quebec City.

This is an incredible and beautiful cathedral! Well worth a visit to take in all the exquisite architecture and beautiful detailed artistic workmanship throughout the interior design. we visited in August on a bit of a rainy day From the many mosaics, stained glass, carvings, and marble accents to the incredible gorgeous bronze interior front doors! So peaceful and calming and healing. Powerful experience

Most amazing church in Canada!nStarted building in 1658 and has taken almost 200 years to finalize the build. Architecture and build quality is truly outstanding!

Absolutely beautiful church outside of Quebec City. The church is considered a pilgrimage site, dedicated to St Anne, Mary the mother of Jesus' mother. The interior decoration and architecture is fantastic. Unfortunately, we witnessed a house on fire directly across the street during our visit.
