i stayed here while on a solo trip for a concert & largely really enjoyed my stay!!!nndefinitely a fun area - i've wandered around kensington before on a past trip & had no idea i'd walked right by here. lots of eclectic local food spots in the immediate area including loads of veggie options for me lol. plus the streetcar stops quite literally a minute away, so transit is easy.nnthe hostel is modern feeling & clean the dorms themselves, common areas, shower/washrooms, halls, etc, i like that breakfast is included, + wifi!! also that the beds have privacy curtains i've noticed some hostels don't. lockers are available in the dorms for your things as well you bring your own lock.nnjust a couple things - 1. the hand soap was empty in the washroom on my floor throughout my stay, so it was a bit awkward running over to the shower room to get soap whenever i went to wash my hands. there also wasn't soap/body wash in the showers. 2. i do wish a commons space was open at night, just w/ a sign saying to respect quiet hours etc - i grabbed takeout on my walk back after the concert, & had nowhere to really eat it when i came back so that was also a little awkward. and 3. i didn't see a drinking fountain/bottle refilling machine, & the breakfast didn't have drinks besides coffee/tea - maybe one of those bottle refill machines, or a vending machine, by the dorms would go a long way. i ran out of my water i brought & was thirsty/regretting not getting a beverage when i came back after the show haha none of that's a huge deal, just figured it was worth mentioning as suggestions etc!nni'd definitely stay again, and would recommend as a safe + budget friendly place for a solo traveler!!
We had such a lovely stay at Samesun! The beds were super comfy - we stayed in the 6 bed female dorm. The staff couldn’t be more helpful or friendly. They even made us an early takeaway breakfast before our flight. Lovely common room and dinning areas. Lockers in the rooms if you bring your own padlock. The showers were big and clean. The locations was super easy to get into the city from - we got the streetcar most days.
Staff, breakfast, location and facilities are AMAZING. 10/10. I really enjoyed being there. As I have already lived in Toronto before, I was looking for a place in downtown. For the price I paid, in a holiday weekend, seriously, this is the best hostel to stay, HOWEVER, I didn't like the noise in my bedroom. Unfortunately, some people are REALLY impolite. I understand if you have to wake up very early to go to the airport, or do whatever you have to do, but during the three days I was there, people in my bedroom were making a lot of noise. Seriously, it was unbelievable. As a suggestion, I think the hostel should put some information about the noise. I couldn't sleep properly. That's completely fine to wake up earlier, to make a few noises, but people were completely nonsense. Open and closing bags, phone ringing loud, lockers opening and closing all the time. It was annoying.
I had such a wonderful stay here! The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and beautiful. It's located in a walkable and safe part of the city with gorgeous views. I met many other travelers from around the world; everyone was so sweet! Would definitely stay here again. :
There couldn’t be a better choice for a suitable and reliable accommodation. The breakfasts were quite sufficient. I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. On my first night, the restrooms were very dirty, so I had a hard time using them. The rooms were clean, the showers were in good condition, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Transportation was easy. I definitely recommend it.
