A great hostel with friendly and outgoing staff who were very helpful and accommodating during a 4 month long stay here. This hostel has one of the best kitchens I've seen in a hostel, with ovens, loads of pots and pans and food storage facilities. A great spot to stay when exploring Kelowna and the Okanagan valley, close to shops and public transport.
I stayed at Samesun Kelowna this past weekend. Breakfast was advertised on their website, which is the reason why I booked this hostel over the other hostel in Kelowna. I called to make sure breakfast was included as advertised and it actually is not offered anymore, I am glad I called to check!nUpon checking in, the room was clean however was apparently who was living in our dorm room was smoking in the room, which turned out to be true. For the non smoking hostel, the room was smoked out, cigarettes left in hallways, all over the outdoor areas. Fitted sheet on mattress had lost all elasticity which in case kept falling off the mattress causing one to sleep on the plastic cover of the mattress with holes into the mattress, really wasn't happy about that it was gross.nCustomer service was good, pay parking $10/night in their private lot, kitchen and indoor common areas were nice. I would try the other hostel next time due to inaccuracy in the listing. Very minor things could be improved to make this hostel great as it has lots of potential! Great location
Stayed there the other night. I didnt want to post this but i feel i have to. There was a used condom under the pillow of a freshly made bed. As though it was left there intentionally. The sheets were smelling of poo. When i complained about it the next day i was told to appreciate what i have. Never again
Terrible customer service. Especially the Indian girl at the front desk. She was so rude No empathy or sympathy whatsoever and was acting like “when is my shift gonna end? I wanna go home and get the paycheck” The room was dirty and I didn’t get to check in before 3pm despite arriving at 11am and having not slept for 2 days. The room was empty, but I was lied to that it was full, so they didn’t let me check in. Two more hours and I would have honestly died from sleep deprivation. The breakfast provided was just stupid pancake batter costing less than 20 cents. Not even milk provided. However, the Mexican and French workers there were quite friendly and helpful.nnEdited: I didn’t post in the wrong hostel, and I definitely have stayed at Samesun Kelowna.
Best vibe of any hostel I've stayed in BC. The mattress protectors on some of the beds are inexcusably awful though, it's like sleeping on a pile of reusable plastic shopping bags and the whole room can hear every movement you make. They had also mostly disintegrated, and didn't even protect the mattresses.nnKitchen was well equipped, location was great and price was relatively low.
