Salon Galea

I tried this salon because the girl who normally cuts my hair at Valentinos was completely booked up. A girlfriend of mine recommended Salon Galea, as she goes there to get her hair cut and was happy with the service. After they cut my hair I was checking it out in the mirror and I guess I was taking too long, because the owner said "you don't need to check it, she knows what she is doing". I was pretty happy with the cut, but then when I paid, they over charged me. A hair cut costs $45, but they charged me around $67. I went home and checked their website to make sure I wasn't mistaken about the price and I double-checked and it was $45 for a hair cut, so I called the store right back to ask why it was $67. They said "we added a hair conditioning treatment to your hair when we were washing it". I said "but you didn't ask me if I wanted that treatment". They said "sorry I guess we should have asked first" and that was it, they never offered to refund me the money or offer any compensation for the added fee that I did not authorize. Unfortunately, some businesses often forget the importance of good customer service..

Salon Galea went above and beyond for my hair tonight! They put some left over toner they had for my hair free of charge just to ensure that my hair looked great with my extensions! I only got charged for a wash and style! Their team work is amazing and they even had a couple of girls working on me as they knew I was in a rush. They were very efficient and knowledgeable on hair care products! Someone is always there to make sure you have a coffee or ice water and that you’re taken care of. Fantastic work ladies !! Thank you so much! PS. I love their coffees !!!

I am giving a mixed review for this salon based on the two different services I had. First off, I booked months in advance for some curls for a wedding I had last September. I had gotten my hair curled by one of the stylists before and found the price to be reasonable, so I told her I wanted it the same way for the wedding. I showed up that day and she was no where to be found, when I asked why I was with a different stylist, they informed me the one I had previously no longer worked there and I was put with Kenji instead. At first I was not impressed with how this was not communicated to be prior to me showing up for my appointment, but Kenji ended up being a blessing because he did a phenomenal job! My curls were the best they have ever looked and I highly recommend him. The bad part of my experience was the makeup. For this same wedding I had my make up done. The makeup artist over drew in my eyebrows and when I expressed that they were a little too dark (especially because I am a red-head) she attempted to correct them but it ended up worse. She applied the totally wrong colour foundation, I just don't think she carried my colour and my face and neck looked like they belonged to different people. Not only that but she tried various colours on my chin so when I got home I had blotches of the wrong colour on my jawbone. I said I liked neutrals and browns for eyeshadow and she gave me an orangey-peach colour (again, orange does not look good on a red-head) She then pushed and pushed false eyelashes, which I agreed too and they fell off on the car ride to the wedding, which I will say the manager refunded me when I addressed the issue with her. Basically, go to Kenji for your hair and do your own make up!
