Saint Germain Bakery

St. Germaine Bakery at Oakridge mall is closed. There is a mini Safeway nearby with a good selection of basic and frozen groceries, household basics and a pharmacy. No fresh meats or fresh seafood--you would have to go to the larger Safeway at King Edward and Oak for a wider selection of groceries.

I’ve had about 4 birthday cakes from this bakery and all were great. Tonight was a durian cake. After the initial backing away because of the smell, we braved that first taste and that’s all it took. We loved that there were chunks of durian throughout and that the cake was so moist and creamy, too.

This small chocolate cake is $33, taste not bad, but really really rich of chocolate! Even though it is small, should be enough for 6 adults :

Unbelievable! I bought 4 of those "cupcakes". The ones with plastic package from the shelf beside the wall. I noticed a lot molds growing on 3 of them a day later. Now I'm wondering if there were mold on the one I ate yesterday. Note that none of which I bought were on discount and nobody said anything about them.

Great diversity of products, all look very fresh and well made. Their service is fast and polite. I loved the ginger bread biscuits I had bought for the kids.

Small bakery located inside Oakridge Centre. We pre-ordered a 6" chestnut cake for $25. The cake was loaded with chestnut and topped with fresh fruit. Reasonably priced.
