You want to tell me that people actually return here for more? The extra star is because it's aesthetic and clean and the pastries look nice but that is about it. Tried a few cake slices and the cheese tart. The only saving grace was the tart whose crust tasted like butter was used, but it crumbled like crazy and the filling was runny. Overall 3$ for one bite seems expensive. The cake slices were chocolate and chestnut something which were horrible. Tasted like cake mix and the flavor was so bad that i had to eat something after to get the flavor out of my mouth. The st Germain cheesecake is very small for the price and the cheese doesn't taste like real cream cheese. It just tastes very fatty. There is no flavor it tastes like eating raw Philadelphia which by itself is not real cream cheese and has no other texture. I truly don't understand people who write great cakes or come back to buy. You should go to France once, try the pastries there and come back and tell us if what St Germain sells qualifies as cakes.
Delicious fresh buns. Fair price for what it’s worth. My favorite bakery when I used to go to Markville Mall. I was so surprised when I saw one in Upper Canada Mall. My go-to bakery
Overall a nice environment but my rating is significantly impacted by the first time I bought a cake from them. It was close to closing time and I went to buy a cake with fresh fruits. The salesperson allowed me to pick from a catalog saying there are available cakes in the back. After purchasing the cake, I went home and found out that most of the fruits on the cake had moulds. The moulds did not touch the frosting or the rest of the cake so it might mean their fruits aren’t fresh. My advice would be to examine the fruits on the cake before purchasing.
Buns are good in general and there are many choices. Cakes are good
I’m a fan of Asian bakery. Food is good but customer service is the worst I’ve experienced. As a typical Asian bakery store, the food is packed inside a plastic bag without seal, you have to bring those to the cashier so they can pack those for you. We didn’t ask for a bag which charges 3 cents, the cashier just stood there doing nothing and didn’t help us pack. Until we asked do we have to seal those bags by ourselves, she nodded… it was very strange for us to scramble in sealing 6-7 bags of bread at the counter. What an unexpected way to be env conscious and have to self-serve even for packing.
First of all, it's great to have the bakery open up in Newmarket serving the north end of GTA. Almost everything is good, except the ice coffee. There's too much ice, too little coffee taste, too much cream. My advice is that if you can't do it right, you may as well take it out from the menu to protect the St. Germain reputation. I'm wondering if I'm asking too much for the bakery?
A male worker with a black apron messed up my tart order. I asked for 2 molten cheese tarts and 2 Portuguese egg tarts and when I got home I got 4 egg tarts 2 of which were the bigger classic egg tarts! Bun prices are a bit more expensive than other Chinese bakeries but I’m glad we have one in Newmarket now. Overall, I would just like my cheese tarts! I used my $12 gift card given to me by staff after I purchased $30 worth of goods.
There r no customer service at all, u have to stood there and zip/pack all the bread you brought.Food: 3/5
i tried a Yu-dane Water Roux bun yesterday. it tasted so good. so glad we have such a bakery in Newmarket-East Gwillimbury area.
Ridiculous to charge 30cents for paper bags. It’s bakery store should come with bag at no charge. It’s forcing ppl to pay for paper bags as it’s impossible to carry individual bakeries by hand. It’s robbery
