Went in to buy a Red Onion. On the end of the counter, the sign clearly says, “Onions Red, Product of Canada; Canada No 1 - $3.49 lb / $7.69 kg”. Just around the corner on the side of the counter, another sign clearly said, “Onions Red, Product of USA; No 1 Grade - $3.49 lb / $7.69 kg”. Since BOTH of the PLU Codes were 4082, I asked a staff member whether the Onions were grown in Canada or the USA. Upon his return from checking, he informed that the Onions were from the USA.nThis is not the first time, nor the first Safeway now Sobey’s store to have incorrect signage.nBe it known that for the large number of shoppers, preferring CANADIAN ONLY PRODUCTS, we rely upon accuracy and honesty. Why Safeways, Sobeys and indeed Canadian Superstore continue to purchase so much American produce is beyond me. I will buy produce and products from ANY Country before I would once again buy American. I, and many more like me, would rather see your American produce rot before buying it, so if indeed you still insist on buying American produce, even though you are supposedly Canadian Companies, AT LEAST make sure that your signage is clear and accurate. NOTE that I bought the Red Onions from Lina’s Italian Market just 200 yds away on Centre St N for $4.35 kg vs. Safeways $7.69 kg!!!! That is also a HUGE difference in cost!!!!!
I am not much of a Safeway fan and have not been here in a while, probably since the lockdowns, but i got in there today, and they whole place was looking different. Better ambiance, great face-lift, excellent floors, and just a much cleaner environment unlike what it used to be. The staff also seemed nicer. A little bit of rearranging had been done on the floors, and it looked perfect. I will surely be coming here more often now, especially with this tune-up.nnTwo years ago, 3 stars. Today, 5 stars.
It’s really comfortable place and the people in the are so nice and so comfortable there. Nobody talk bad to you and whatever you need is there it’s really chill place and I will go to it always it’s really fun and nice place.
There was a special for top sirloin roast. We only saw two small ones and wanted some bigger ones. We approached the meat department and a butcher came to help us. We requested 2 roasts around 3 pounds each. He told us to come back in 5 mins. We did, and he had cut, tied, and packaged them nicely. He was so friendly and nice. Amazing service!
