Amazing children's area in this library, lots of interesting wooden fixtures to explore, area for louder younger kids and their caregivers, a giant toy rocket to play in. A colouring area. Great books, obviously. A great place to inspire a love for reading very young.
I love this library. I basically grew up near it because I went to the schools around it, as well as started living in the area once I hit my teens. I even remember it before the renovations when it was much smaller, but I do know the changes were beneficial and there's much more room now. The workers here are lovely and friendly, it's a great space for kids to frequent when they're really young, and to find books as they get older. The collection here is really great, I myself visit often looking for history books to read. I just really appreciate the quiet and the space in my area!
Library is nice but to be honest the loudest and most disruptive aspect of trying to study here are the staff. They are very nice, but what I mean by this is that if someone calls on the phone, or asks them a question, they insist on answering or holding forth at a loud volume, nearly shouting at times. It's literally been dead silent except for the staff loudly addressing people in person or on the phone. I get that maybe this might be necessary when addressing elderly patrons? But honestly they seem to shout no matter who they're talking to... I wonder if maybe requesting that the staff speak in a more normal or quieter than normal speaking voice might help, as the sound "really" echoes all through the place; or maybe trying to install some noise cancelling furniture or something around where the staff sit, so their loud shouted instructions to patrons in person and on the phone don't reverberate constantly throughout the library, breaking your study or work focus with a furiously one sided explanation of how to sign in to xyz or the like. Besides that a wonderful library as always! Again, staff are super kind, I just wish they would be kind a bit more quietly.
I have been taking books out of the library for lots of reading over the past 2 years. The ability to put books on hold and pick them up from this local library has been the best TPL feature. This library is usually not very busy. I drop off my returns outside and quickly get my new books inside.
Friendly staff, nice location! Parks and benches nearby for the warmer months, but nice window seats inside the library for the colder months. Line up early to get your "MAP pass" they go pretty quick!
My favorite in toronto. Perfect design, and the best thing is that kids section is downstairs. So it so quiet, and always a lot of spaces are available. Nonetheless the people working here are amazing
Staff are friendly, my kids love the rocketship and reading groups. Big library with lots of desks looking into the park.
Good library. Good staff. Good selection. Fabulous kids programs are run at this location when there are no restrictions in place. Teens section on main floor, children’s section, including books in other languages for kids, is downstairs. Many computers and printers if you need them. Book in advance though - Once school is out, this place gets busy fast.
The opening of libraries have been a Godsend. The staff are helpful and provide technical assistance. Even during the various lockdowns, being able to sign out reading material meant that I could continue with being engaged with book clubs.
Babies/Toddlers area was amazing ! Plenty of space for kiddos to explore and walk. The staff was very supportive and welcoming. I highly recommend this place
