We ate at the restaurant for dinner, it was all very good and atmosphere was really nice, private and warm. Lakeview is amazing. Drinks were really good. Dinner was great, prime rib and walleye! Local walleye. So fresh. Had a chocolate martini for dessert... Very good. But you can't get this view anywhere in Bemidji.Service: 5/5
Lovely, attentive young waitress, took very good care of us and a great visit with my friends.....our visit long- overdue and fun!! Delicious Chicken Strip basket with mound of onion rings and ginger ale...yum!! Great atmosphere and lake view of the fishing....dad's pulling kids on sleds.....Entertaining
The hotel is slightly off the beaten path. Cheap rate $120 with tax for a winter stay in the off season. Chose this hotel after our original plans fell through at a much dingier hotel in town. The pool and hot tub were in a separate building, which was ok since it wasn't too chilly out. The room was located over the bar/restaurant, so the music was loud through the floor of our 2nd floor room until the evening hours. The rooms were very nice and overlooked the lake with a small patio outside. Walls were thin with noise from next door, but that's pretty typical in older hotels. Breakfast was decent with the typical waffles, muffins, cereal, etc.
Food is massively overpriced. The cooking staff insisted on having their music blasting as they sang over the piped in dinner music even though a request was made to lower their music. We'll never go there again if that is how they treat customers.Service: 4/5
We booked the economy cabin for an ice fishing weekend and we knew it would be basic. It was fine. The front door would not shut so the kitchen/living room were very cold. We used only 1 of the 2 bathrooms as the toilet had issues in 1. And the outside lighting by our cabin was beoken. But, it was fine. We wanted to have a central spot for ice fishing bemidji lakes and be in a cabin so we could park right there with all our fishing gear. And that worked well.
I take myself out for a special treat sometimes. Ruttgers crème brûlée does not disappoint!.. hands down my favorite place to go for dessert in Bemidji. By the way if you ever go there for dessert you should also bring your swimsuit and enjoy the amazing pool room. It has some of the most natural sunlight with all the windows surrounding the pool… and did I mention hot tub. Date night in the books.
Came for a special valentines dinner didn't mind the 20 minute wait for our reservation got brought to a dirty table and she didn't even bother to wipe my seat that was wet dirty napkin on the floor was left for me to put my feet on Then after ordering appetizers it was seconds and then our meal was there no time to even have a conversation with our appetizers Was very rushed through dinner but could tell other couples were not rushed they had plenty of time to finish all or half of the appetizer The wrap I ordered tasted like it had been sitting out for ever definitely needed extra sauce that we got chragerd for even definitely never going to the restaurant side again
I am writing my review as I sit in my bed listening to every single person on this floor breath through these paper thin walls. My original reservation was for the cedar lodge. It literally looked like something from a 1970s horror movie. The door looked like it had been kicked in, nothing had been cleaned or updated since 1970. There were 40 flies I literally took 15 minutes killing with my shoes while I tried to talk myself out of a panic attack. There was 2 options, call and get an updated room...that I now have to pay for or drive 4 hours back home. We are now in the renovated main lodge with no jacuzzi tub. At least it doesn't smell like dead animals and the carpet isn't sticky and crunchy. I'm still not thrilled and wished we would've opted to finding somewhere else. Food tonight was great though, would recommend the restaurant with the lake side patio. Let's just hope nothing else goes wrong tomorrow...
Spent the week experiencing life at Rutgers and it was absolutely wonderful!—my husband, our three daughters 4 year old, 2 year old and 6 week old had a phenomenal time. The cabins are a bit dated, but the beds are comfortable, space was clean and the service was genuine/heartfelt from all staff resort and restaurant. Beautiful beach with stunning lake views. My only recommendation for those with young families is to pack toys and activities as the resort had plenty of space to play, but no playground or hosted children activities — they have an amazing beach water park, but our kids were a tad little for that — so again for littles, bring the toys as the space is great to throw a beach ball around/play in the sand/ride bike. Had a great time and will be booking for next year!
Visited Ruttger’s for dinner with a friend. The spicy Cajun shrimp pasta was amazingly good. I added a grilled chicken breast to pack in some extra protein. Flavor of the sauce was creamy and bold, without being too spicy, and the sun dried tomatoes and onions throughout actually felt like they belonged, not just vegetables added for color.
