This place is a hidden gem! A must go if you're craving fish and chips. From the moment I entered I was greeted by a very nice Chap from Newfoundland. They were actually closing for the dinner rush but sat me anyway. The fish portion was huge, I couldn't finish the two piece meal. The batter was very light and not greasy at all. The chips were fine too perfection nice and golden. The side of coleslaw was creamy and delicious. I rarely give give stars but the restaurant deserved it!!!
Great spot for fish and chips! Huge portions and super fast and hot when it came out. The batter on the fish and chips was light and the fish was fresh and delicious. Tartar sauce was awesome. The service was super friendly and outgoing. They were apologetic for the delay in ordering it really wasn't bad at all. Would definitely recommend and will be back!
Lovely and decent fish and chips restaurant by Bedford Basin, we had the signature Fish and Chips and the Scallops and Chips, the food was delicious and made with fresh ingredients, the portion was perfect, the place is super neat and bright, and I appreciate the way they work, very efficient and friendly! Perfect experience!
We passed by this little fish & chip place in Bedford and hubby suddenly NEEDED fish and chips. Although at the end of essentially a strip mall, the outside appearance is still cute. First thing I noticed when we entered was that it doesn't smell like a fish and chip shop - it smells wonderful, like flowers and spices. The owner suggested it might have been the orange and chocolate chip bread pudding she just pulled from the oven oops, wiping droll off the keyboard. While waiting for our order I noticed how fresh and clean and cute the indoor decor was...well, I sort of noticed it, I couldn't believe how quickly our food arrived!! Delicious, hot AND fast. I had 2 piece fish and chips and was full. Hubby had a three piece fish and chips and was full...and then the nice owner said oh and I have homemade gingerbread with hot caramel sauce and ice cream and my dessert stomach stepped forward and said "Excuse me, but I'M not yet full..." The owner was great! While there aren't a lot of tables, parking was easy, and their take-out trade was roaring. We WILL be back
Second time visiting this restaurant and returned for the DELICIOUS clams that are cooked to perfection!! Not overcooked at all. You haven't had proper clams until you have tried Rudy and Olive's clams. Wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff. Will definitely be back!!
The heart and soul of Newfoundland food and hospitality is alive and well here at Rudy and Olive’s! The moment you walk in the door you are warmly welcomed. The staff are amazing. The food it top notch! The fish and chips are the best in HRM maybe all of NS. There are lots of other things to choose from for those who want something other than seafood. The baked beans and toutons were perfect. You are definitely missing out if you don’t take the time to check it out and have a bite! If you are a Newfoundlander missing home you’ll find a little taste of it here.
Had a fantastic experience here! Came because it was recommended by a local and we were NOT disappointed! Staff was friendly and respectful. Food was hot, fast, fresh, delicious, with good sized portions. Not a large in-dining area, about 4 tables, but while we were there numerous people came in or called for take out. Went with 4 adults and 2 toddlers, and everyone left happy and full. Children shared a burger and fries. One of the adults is GF and they had a couple options for them to choose from. Would highly recommend and would go again!
Chips are crispy and well done fish is crispy well cooked and amazing fish for haddock. And the service was amazing with everyone having a great attitude and a true love for there business. And amazing decor and cute signs and photos. Overall fantastic experience. PS if you go get the “dog paws” for dessert they are great
Portion for 1 piece fish was good coleslaw is tasty. Parking unfortunately leaves much to be desired. Waitress was friendly and efficient. Once they cut there own fries they will get a five star.
We shared a seafood platter. The food was delicious and the serving large enough for two for lunch. The server and owner were very friendly. On our way out, we bought desserts to take home. Those were fresh and very tasty. Thanks to our friends for recommending this restaurant.
