Such a gorgeous establishment! So spacious and clean but what really matters is the food and it did not disappoint! Loved every part of my plate from the fresh hummus, crispy chicken, rice, fries and veggies. It's in a weird location but worth the drive for sure! Also keep in mind it's pretty pricey compared to other spots
Easy five stars. Great service and the food taste so authentic. A little on the pricey side but nice change of shawarma. Would highly recommend. I got the family platter and four people could not finish.
It was one of my favorite places to eat. But to be honest, step-by-step they started to back off and the quality is not the same anymore. Last night I wanted to give it a shot and order the family meal hopefully it could be better. But unfortunately they didn’t even bother themselves by cutting it, they sent it in very different way. Have to mention that it was very oily and tasteless and dry that we couldn’t chew it, nether me and my wife couldn’t finish one bite.
We got a platter to take out last week, and today we had dinner at the restaurant. The takeout platter was pretty good. I would order again. Their garlic sauce is not very garlicky though. Dining in - there are pros and cons. Pro: Beautiful interior. Family-friendly. Lots of booths and high chairs. Spacious and stroller-friendly. Lots of individual washrooms. Con: If you’re going at a busy time e.g. Saturday dinner, be prepared to wait. We waited over 30min for our food read: hangry kids & hangry breastfeeding mom. There seems to be a problem with logistics and prioritization. They just opened so I hope they make improvements in the future. They do not provide hand sanitizers. I looked everywhere. Accessibility is lacking because the wheelchair buttons don’t work. Family platter is heavy on pita and fries, not a lot of vegetables. Doogh yogurt drink was too salty for my taste. I am not familiar with different types of shawarmas based on the regions, but I think this is Syrian style shawarma? I find it more bread-heavy than the Lebanese shawarma. The fries are oily but in a guilty pleasure kind of way. Overall, it’s OK. Would do takeout but hesitant to dine in again on a weekend. I would not order the $54.99 Family Platter again.
Great service, good food, very clean environment. My only concern is the lack of communication between the person taking the order and the person making the food. There seems to be a disconnect. This has happened both times that I’ve ordered something with substitutions and when I get my order from the chefs, it comes without the substitutions. So I’m not sure if it’s not added in the order ticket or the chefs just don’t read it, but it can be discouraging and frustrating for customers to have to go back to the chef to fix their order. I do recommend confirming your order with the chefs before they start cooking it. However this shouldn’t be on the customer to fix the problem. I would recommend trying it at least once before you make your mind up cause the food itself is good in quality and quantity.
This is my third time having this place and I felt I should leave a review. The restaurant is very big. I have yet to see a shortage of tables and it's usually pretty steadily busy. That being said, most of the time people are waiting for their food. The chef's here must be in competition to see who can be the slowest chef ever. I didn't say anything but I stood where they are preparing the sandwiches and plates and they move like turtles. I asked the cashier on my third visit "how long will it be" and she said 10 minutes or so. We ordered one chicken sandwich and one mixed plate. It took 50 minutes. This isn't the first time. They absolutely don't respect time here. It's not that you're busy, it's that the chefs are slow. It shouldn't be taking that long. The food is great. The chicken shawarma in sajj is the best thing they have. The lamb is a bit on the dry side. The rice isn't amazing. I'd come back and grab the chicken sandwich but I'm definitely ordering take out. Way ahead of time.
Every time passing by we wanted to try this place and finally went in. We are too used to the regular shawarma service here in Ottawa, and this place serves it different. The taste was good but have to get used to their style of preparation. Definitely the star was, they have lamb as an option, which was loved.
Always an excellent experience at the Royal Rooster. I have tried all the shawarma restaurants in town, and this definitely is the best. Service is wonderful, and the staff is very accommodating and cheerful. The restaurant is modern and very clean. I would definitely recommend.
This is the first time we visit and we loved it. It reminded us of the authentic flavours of shawarma. We bought saj chicken shawarma and saj lamb shawarma sandwiches and the flavours were delicious. The garlic was silky, creamy and tangy which really compliments the sandwiches. The fries were not hot but this was only our first visit so might be a one time thing. Emad who served us the food was so friendly and kind. It is on the pricy side but we will definitely be back.
Excellent, excellent, excellent. Food was great. The service is undoubtedly the best and atmosphere is second to none. I went there with my spouse for the first time and it's a superb discovery. Definitely much better than any other Shawerma place. It is somewhere you can easily sit with your family. Service was really good. The food was served on the table unlike any other Shawerma place.
