If you want families to stay and help loved ones, please provide bathrooms on each floor. My mom is getting long term care, and I have been in distress several times having to pee as I can't get to a washroom fast enough. There needs to be better communication between nurses, specialists, and departments overall as well. Thank you to the nurses and caregivers who are mostly amazing!
I have used the emergency facility several times. Rating a 3 for the staff who remain upbeat and helpful. There is an overall lack of personal which makes their jobs harder. More forced overtime for example. So yes long waits depending. Also we do use emergency for minor things because our community of Barriere should have 3 doctors working in a walk in clinic but now we have one doctor who has a full patient list of about a third of the residents. We don't have a family doctor. This seems to be a situation across Canada and Internationally. You cannot blame existing staff for this they all overworked and 20 hr shifts are not uncommon.
My mom goes to the hospital and waits for hours, only to be not fully assessed for her pain, not given any form of pain medication to alleviate severe pain. She still can’t ambulate and doctors did not do proper testing to check source of pain. Should have been given a CT scan or MRI, even for a later date, but nope.nnNurses are good, but some doctors here don’t seem to care.
The people working in emergency had no one in emergency lobby when I went a still gave a awful attitude. No compassion for someone in pain let alone a respectful environment. Spoke in a condescending tone the whole time and dismissed almost everything. If I could give a zero I would. Poor communication aswell I called a head and did what they said and still got treated poorly.
I have been to the ER a few times and yes wait times are long but staff has always done the best they can given the number of patients needing them. I have also had two surgeries and both time the care was exceptional
