Were randomly stopped for a random "licence check". Encounter was very creepy and uncomfortable and bordered on scary. After looking at our licence we were grilled about where we had been previous night, why we were where we were presently (site seeing following BC Gov tourist route)and where we were going. We tried to rescue the situation by asking for some local info and the officer did provide some. He told us his RCMP depot was in Hazelton (where we said we were headed) and recommended Old Hazelton. However, overall the whole incident was so weirdly freaky we skipped Hazelton altogether. Likely just a matter of terrible "bedside manner" rather than abuse of power.In general, RCMP inspire my respect and admiration. I've been through checkstops and subject to similar questions before and they are fine. This time I was afraid.
