Lovely space, very friendly staff and delicious food. Being downtown you should be aware that lunch hours can get quite busy but they do have takeout options. Particularly enjoyed their been sugar banana bread, the carrot cake and French patty melt. Mango lemon brioche tart is amazing. Repeat visits warranted. Go try and go often.
5 stars! Need I say more? The service, coffee, snacks and food are ALL incredible. The crispy potatoes are some of the best potatoes I've ever had, ever. The brioche buns were fresh and tender, the eggs were cooked perfectly and prices were reasonable for the quality of the food which again, is 5 star!. As much as I want to keep this place a secret I also hope this hype continues to grow for this place, they deserve it!
This place was so good! The food was made fast, and the selection is a great balance of healthy yet flavourful. The vegetables that came with my rice dish were fresh and plentiful. And the rice was cooked in such a way that it felt hearty and indulgent it was fried, to a crisp in certain parts, which gave it a delightful texture. The salad my co-diner got was also very vibrant and they gave a good amount of chicken. The chicken was extremely tender. The space itself was bright and airy, with tables and a bar along the windows for sitting. They serve a variety of drinks from cocktails, to beer, to Vietnamese iced coffee. Will go again for sure!!
The Rosewood is a fastfood experience in some ways, but a very good experience in other ways. You enter and line up like you would if you were going to an Arby's. But the ambiance is hipster, not fast food - but the structure of ordering is similar. While in the venue it is clean, and has a nice vibe. I liked what they did to the limited space they had. Once you order, you take a number cafeteria style and your order will be brought to you. The food was prepared quickly and people were fine. But it is hard to be more than superficial in this regard. Had I asked for advice on the menu, it may have been different. But how do you ask questions when there are people behind you? So it is hard to rave about the service. So how was the food? I had a fried egg sandwich. If I recall, it was on a brioche bun. But regardless, it was light, soft, and fluffy. I would bet dollars to donuts it was in-house made. It was also substantial enough to hold the moisture from the yolk of the egg. It was tasty and well done. The home fried potatoes were the bomb. Crispy outside and amazingly soft and fluffy inside. You need to experience these. I am still wondering how they nailed that so perfectly. Again, you are going to a place that knows how to prepare good tasting comfort food. My meal was $16. For me that is a bit expensive, but I feel I got value. It was that good. The coffee - a latte - was very well prepared. It has really good coffee. My guest had a salad and enjoyed it. It was fresh and tasty I am told. Third, this place has great crullers I am told. A testament to that is they were sold out at 12:30. So go early for those. Parking in the area is a mess. Contruction everywhere. Rice Howard Way should be a beacon but it had construction fences and bins up around there, and it was sad to see. But the restaurant doesn't carry that. I struggled on a rating. I enjoyed it, but felt 4 was fair. But if you said it was a 5 experience, I wouldn't argue with you. If you said a 3 experience, for what I had, I *would* bicker with you about that. I will share a few pictures. Some are of the food, the venu and some are the surroundings. But I want to be clear. I wasn't expecting to review this place so the food pictures are not a good shot. I am also sharing pictures of the area around it. I am sharing more to say to #yegcc, get your act together. These great business deserve better.
Yummy food. I stop here for breaky sometimes when I visit Edmonton. Reasonably priced food and quality coffee. The breakfast rice bowl with bacon and egg is great! Service is lovely. Space is open and clean. Though, I try not to eat in as it’s a bit smokey-smelling inside from the cooking and the scent gets into my business attire and hair.
Kinda on the pricier side but worth it. I was disappointed they didn't havr what either of us wanted but we were happy what we ended up getting. I got the breakfast rice bowl. I never thought I could love veggies for breakfast so much. It was flavourful and the textures were divine. That CRUNCH from the bits of crispified rice. The creamy almost gravy like sauce coating every grain. The warm heat from the spices, bit of cinnamon, the savourt saltiness, bit of bright tanginess, all balanced with a hint of sweet. Aaaaah. One day, I will be back.
Look no further we found the best breakfast potatoes ever! I will come back to Edmonton just to have this breakfast again! Added bonus, service was great and friendly, coffee was good and they had some pretty tasty looking pastries and donuts. They also have an interesting natural wine list... Didn't get to taste any, 8am is a little early for that.
What a great discovery this restaurant was. Absolutely delicious food and amazing service. We had a grilled cheese and club sandwich that were on a whole other level. Oh and the crispy potatoes I could go back just for those. We also tried the lemon poppyseed crueller, and it was a perfect way to end our lunch. Highly recommend Rosewood.
First time to try this corner restaurant and I am impressed. I tried the special for that day, the breakfast rice with toasted rice, beets, bokchoy, cucumber and bell pepper topped with egg. I was, omg, this is so good! The rice took the color of the beets which makes this dish cheerful to the eyes as you eat and have lots of colors. I have never tasted rice like this before. There's a citrusy taste and sweetness on it that just melts in your mouth. Not really a fan of fried potatoes so I hope they have more dishes like this on my next visits!
Oh man the coffee brought me back to Australia. The espresso was so good, not burnt at all and with delicious crema. The food was delicious and probably the best breakfast I have had from a cafe in all of Edmonton.
