Food was amazing! We started with the beef soup each and it was warm, fragrant and hearty, with generous servings of ingredients apart from the beef. Not too much sodium either. We got the poutine which was a hit amongst all of us at the table. Heaping servings of blue and goat cheeses with sprinkles of beef and mushroom. Even the poutine-hating Canadian in our group admitted that it was great! Maybe a bit more gravy would have made it perfect. I got the swordfish with mango salsa, which was on the seasonal menu. It was amazing, giving me decadent bites of flaky fish. The whole concept was reminiscent of a lighter, springtime flavor. The sauce on the side was good, too - no idea what it is though. The waiter claimed that the pork would fall apart easily. It did. The Johnny cakes were really good, vegetables were the right amount of sour and sweet. Everything went well together. Beef burger was okay, nothing special.
Just the right amount of upscale and casual. Excellent food, lovely ambiance. Varied menu offers something for everyone with seasonal specials too. We really enjoyed the cheese plate and Parker House rolls to start, chicken and cod were both fantastic mains, and chocolate mousse semifreddo to finish.Dine in: Yes
Excellent service, restaurant was clean and well kept. Food was very good. Our waitress was great! Only thing my husband and I did not like were the rolls. They tasted and looked like rolls from Walmart. Otherwise everything was perfect!
I go about every other week because the food here is so unique and amazing ! Pork Belly app is a must ! Chip is also an amazing bartender, made my mango margarita to perfection ! I have expanded my pallet so much from trying the cool dishes this restaurant comes up with. The turkey light fare was my lunch yesterday and wow ! The flatbread wrap is an amazing idea and worked perfectly with a turkey cranberry apple combo.
Best salmon I’ve ever had!! Despite the restaurant being very busy, we still managed to get seating at the bar. The drinks came immediately followed by our appetizer of calamari and rolls both were delicious. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye and I ordered the Salmon special. They were both cooked perfectly and some of the best meals we had ever eaten. We will definitely be back for more soon!
When visiting Vermont, you must come eat here! The food is delicious!! The food and service was worth the long wait! Thank you to the server for apologizing for the delay.
Brussel sprouts, salad with spicy tofu, fish & chips, coffee - Awesome!! Tee-shirts and hoodie - love them! Leann - the best wait staff ever. Deliciously fun restaurant!!
Roots the Restaurant is a very Kool place to relax and enjoy great food and spirits. Our waiter was Chip a tall handsome man. Super staff. The Rib Eye was cooked perfectly. also ordered was the Salmon, the sweet potato hash was a tasty change. As for apps, we order the brussel sprouts, absolutely delicious. When your in Rutland VT. stop in. We will be back. Thank You, Roots.
We have been here a few times and we really like this place. We usually sit at the bar. We had 2 whiskey sours specialty cocktails. We had the Scallop Salad, which really surprised me. Very great flavors! We had as an app the Brussel sprouts reminded me of sweet and sour flavor - very good! Then we had a NY Strip with potatoes, fried onions and caramelized carrots. Good size portion, so we split it.gor dessert, we had their Carrots cake - which was to die forl!! Very pleased with our food and our bartender.
We just had Donald cater our wedding on 10/1/22 and he absolutely killed it. Donald, Deb, and his team were thorough and made sure that everything ran smoothly. The food was absolutely amazing, I honestly wish that we could have an endless supply of their rolls. Finding vendors that are LGBTQ friendly is difficult but Donald and his team treated us with such respect and like any other couple. I would recommend Roots to absolutely anyone. The food was top notch and the vibes were even better. Thank you Donald, Deb, and team!!
