This general store sits in the heart of Dorset. Overflowing with so much rustic character, it's an absolute must if you are visiting the area. There have everything you need plus tons of locally made crafts and foods. They have so many things for your cottage and camping needs as well. Staff is super friendly and polite! I love coming here to shop and looking around. That atmosphere of this place completes the weekend retreat. A must visit every time you go up to visit. Spend money and support your local communities and farmers. Stay safe out there my friends and please, be kind to one another!
Best. Store. Ever. Grocery, gifts, trendy clothes, bathing suits, locally sourced products, INCREDIBLE gelato, café, home hardware, cottage essentials and everything in between. Recently switched owners and they are improving it tons every year.
It is a signature store. Beside its unique ambient, the staff are so friendly, kind and helpful. Must be Muskoka people culture. Highly recommend. Make sure you visit the second floor, they have nice souvenir shop there.
This is quite a store. Downdown Dorset is quite something. It is tiny and has a lot to offer. Stunning views, right around the hardware store, and the hardware store itself are worth visiting this town. If you can afford to buy a cucumber for $5.00, you are pretty well set and don't have to go to anywhere else, for anything. Inside you find a hardware corner, a Christmas corner just in case..., isles with freezers and coolers, home made jams and preservatives, a bakery, fresh products, a deli counter, a souvenir department bigger than any Trading Post in the area, fresh produce, and the list goes on and on. If you dare walking up those stairs, you end up walking through a gallery of pictures for sale and a cloths boutique with the cute name "Red Onion". Cottage cloths, cottage jewelry, nighties, Santa clause pyjamas and a lot more of such fun awaits you there. You really need a map for this store. It's easy to get lost. So, don't leave before you can be sure you have seen it all. Thanks for the free coffee!
Great store with tonnes of random things you could use or need that you may have forgotten or wish you had when up cottaging. It’s extremely convenient so the prices make sense, some are a little absurd but it is well kept inside and clean. The staff is also very helpful and nice.
Hardware store has good selection of items generally needed around the cottage. Grocery section provides a good selection at a reasonable price. Checkout was quick as additional cashier opened when the lines were getting backed up. Staff friendly and helpful when needed. . .
Has everything you want when up north. Has great staff, large selection and location is prefect for both foot and drive. 10/10 would recommend to anyone coming to northern Ontario in the near future as a must see stop.
I truly love this store, when we go up to the cottage always get our groceries here for the week and the service and prices are really good. The location is always awesome one of my fav grocery stores all stuff in one stop.
$17.99 for a bag of firewood. Yes, $17.99. In the middle of Ontario. And it was fresh, unseasoned pine. I’m used to paying more of a premium these days, and inflation, support local small businesses, yadda yadda. But, yeah, $17.99.
I can see why it has been voted best general store, it is a crazy mix of three different businesses home hardware, the red onion and the general store into one location. You can get everything from groceries, to kitchen wares and outdoor wear or local pottery all in the same place. Staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable and prices were more than reasonable. Will be back next year.
