Riverside Park

This is a lovely park on the bank of the mighty Mirrouri River. There is a replica of the Dakota Territory Capital here as Yankton was the capital of Dakota Territory from 1860 until South Dakota became a state in 1889. The new SD capital was then located in Pierre SD in 1890, this was a wood framed building located where the S D. Retailers building is now in Pierre and the construction of the present capital in Pierre was started in 1905 and completed in 1910. Check out the buildings on 3rd street and the surrounding area in Yankton for the buildings go back in time from the 1860s. Check out the office of the S.D magazine which is located in a historical house which is located on East 3rd Street in Yankton. Like I said Riverside Park and Yankton itself is full of history so visit Yankton soon and enjoy all it has to offer,Thanks.

Nice city park by Missouri River. Shelters, large play area, dock for fishing. Boat dock, benches, tables, bike path, the large BB field with stands. HS and local college and amateur teams thru summer. Used for local city summer celebration River Boat Days in August. Replica of territorial Capital building for rent for events.

We biked through this park in mid-May. Can't say enough good about the parks and trails in Yankton. Paved, well maintained trails. The men on the lawn mowers slowed and turned off the mowers as we neared. Quiet, safe and peaceful was our experience.

Awesome park with a nice walking path right by the river. There is a park there that my kiddos love, as well as picnic shelters that make it a great spot for birthday parties.

We pulled over here to eat our lunch while passing through Yankton. Very nice park and playground equipment. They also had life vest to borrow for kids if you were going out on the river! That was great to see! Beautiful views!
