I absolutely love Riverbend Academy! The teachers are amazing and really care about helping me succeed. The small classes make it easier to ask questions and get the attention I need. The flexibility of the high school allows me to pursue my baseball career. The school feels like a second home, and I’m really grateful for everything I’m learning. I highly recommend Riverbend Academy to anyone looking for a great school!
My son is thriving in this school his reading level is one grade ahead, and his math level is 2 grades ahead. We started going to this school on the recommendation of a family member whose son had graduated there and moved on to university. My son has a hard time focusing and I was worried that in a public school he would fall behind . The teachers have learned how to teach him and the class sizes are a lot smaller so more time is afforded to each student. I highly recommend Riverbend Academy and am confident my son will go on to be a successful college or university graduate after attending here.
My daughter has been at Riverbend now since grade 2. She will be going into grade 7 next year! I can not thank Riverbend enough for how much they have done for my daughter. She has excelled not only academically but she has also excelled socially. She is now doing performing arts outside of school. She is thriving and happy and believes in herself now more than she ever has. I am so glad I made the change and brought her to riverbend. Thank you Riverbend for all you have done. Your encouragement and constant positive attitude has helped my daughter in more ways than I ever could.nnI have now brought my son to Riverbend and since September his speech has excelled his confidence has skyrocketed. I am forever grateful to Riverbend and all that they do! Thank you Mrs. G and Mr. G for you dedication to my children and all the children within the school!
I have conflicting views regarding Riverbend Academy. I appreciated the grade 8 program, the teacher was fabulous, attentive, supportive and organized. Our child had a wonderful experience and finished the year with an incredibly positive experience. He was listened to, encouraged, motivated and felt incredibly successful. We decided to try the grade 9 program and initially were happy I even wrote a positive review, however half way through the year we became discouraged.nnThe school then used Virtual High School Credits taught in a classroom for the high school program - however we noticed our son becoming quite dis-interested in class and often discussed how much time they could watch You-Tube in class. While communicating our concern that our son was falling behind NUMEROUS times in Grade 9, the teacher Mr. Graystone repeatedly assured us that our son was on track and there was nothing to worry about. Mr. Graystone even told that he was allowing open books for tests through VHS when books were not permitted which is a platform I found short sighted for my sons education. However it was late February when we finally recognized our son was excessively behind and my husband and I had to work with our son for hours every night to ensure he met his credit requirements to graduate grade 9 on schedule. We left this year upon completion and went to a highly rated private school.nnIn addition, while I loved the solutions room, my husband and I sometimes found the head mistresses verbal outbursts less than mature and we often felt we had to calm her down before she could move into solution mode. We were not alone in witnessing this behaviour as an older women we paid to occasionally coordinate pick up talked to us about how uncomfortable it made her when she saw the head mistress yell at a young child in the hallway on more than one occasion.nnFinally, I had entered the school on multiple occasions to hear the staff talking about students using negative language once sadly about a student they expelled without awareness that parents were in the hall listening. I believe all children have a right to their privacy.nnI have waited to post this for 3 years now, because perspectives and organizations change. But after much reflection - my opinion has stayed the same.
Riverbend Academy has changed our daughters' lives. Their confidence has rocketed where they were timid and reluctant to speak in class. They are now excited to go to school and tell us each day what they've learned.nnThe students at Riverbend are polite and courteous - a direct result of daily practice of virtues. The faculty is professional, kind, and genuinely cares for each of their students and their families.
