Ridley Orchard School is a community based early learning enrichment facility. The school is located in the heart of Yonge Lawrence Village, in the Yonge St, Avenue Rd. and York Mills Rd. area. The School has been offering quality education since 1996 and has earned a reputation for its nurturing environment and progressive curriculum.
As Early Childhood Educators and parents, we know you want the very best foundation for your child. We are dedicated education professionals proficient in implementing a complete progressive curriculum in a child-centered, natural environment, where your child is inherently motivated to explore and discover his or her world. Teachers facilitate interactive learning opportunities to develop and nurture the whole child.
We are licensed by the Ministry of Education to offer full day Junior and Senior Kindergarten, Pre-kindergarten and Preschool programs, ¾ day Pre-kindergarten, Preschool and Toddler programs as well as ½ day for all programs.
Your child’s education will progress in a nurturing environment, within a low teacher to student ratio. There is one qualified teacher for every eight kindergarten students (1:8) and one qualified teacher for every seven preschool and pre-kindergarten students (1:7). The toddler program has one qualified teacher for every five toddler students (1:5). Smaller groups are implemented for individualized learning opportunities.
In a developmentally supportive atmosphere, children in the toddler program benefit from the opportunity to play and learn alongside their peers developing their social, emotional, language, cognitive, physical and creative skills. Children in the preschool, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs develop within a curriculum, specifically adapted to their individual aptitude and learning styles; supporting their independence, self-esteem, imagination, sense of adventure, inquisitiveness, reasoning skills and critical thinking. The Core Curriculum includes; educational circles, drama and role-playing, creative and sensory projects, science and nature, math, music and gym, ‘Letterland’ and ‘Handwriting without Tears’; innovative early phonetic, reading and writing programs.
Our teachers are qualified, responsive and caring individuals, with many years of experience and knowledge with specialized Early Childhood Education degrees and subsequent degrees in child development and education. They are registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators. In addition, highly trained specialty staff bring their skills and expertise to Ridley Orchard School on a weekly bases, to provide the children with a complete school experience. Specialty staff along with our teachers implement Extra Curricular programs such as French and the Canadian Mosaic, musical instruments including Mystic Drumz, dance including jazz and hip hop, sports and exercise including yoga, gymnastics, karate and soccer, animals including Reptilia and Whimz, pottery and sculpting.
Summer Camp, during July and August, supports children’s independence, confidence and adventurous nature, while developing their physical, cognitive, creative and social skills. Activities take place in our fully fenced outdoor playground, beautiful garden and in case of rainy days, our fully equipped facilities include a large indoor gymnasium, classrooms and kitchens. Camp instructors are selected from our teachers and university/college students. There is a ratio of one instructor to every five campers ensuring lots of individual attention. Programs include Full day, ¾ day and ½ day options.
