The library/study areas are really surreal to experience. Very detailed ceilings, and some amazing architecture. Having not done a huge amount of research into it, it is a little confusing. It's not really a walk in and off you go sort of place. You cam get in for free, but need tickets to go up to the museum and other parts. But look into that and I'm sure it'll be great.
Must see. The building and reading rooms are magnificent. It's possible to enter the reading rooms as a tourist to look and take photos and videos, but only from the perimeter just inside the security cordon. To enter the reading rooms you need a library card and I believe a valid reason to do relevant research.
Very interesting little exhibition about Moliére in the rencently refurbished public library Richelieu. The building by its own worth a visit. It is free to visit, the two large reading room are wonderful. One of the two is closed on sunday. They often present temporary exhibitions. There’s also a book shop inside.
Bookworm paradise! Never have I ever seen architecture that matches the mastery of literature. This has done that. It brought me to tears. There are many beautiful experiences to be had in Paris, but this is now on top of the list!
Amazing place, worth visiting! The main hall is impressive, nice atmosphere. The employees are very friendly. They greet you in English and can explain everything. You can enter and walk around for free. We really enjoyed it.
A great place. The spectacular reading room is free to visit and the museum is housed in an amazing building, an old palais. Definitely worth a visit.
Magnificent place and definitely must visit. The reading hall is very beautiful. Was surprise to find that’s it’s free to visit and look around.
The Richelieu-Louvois site is the historic birthplace of the Bibliothèque nationale de France. Located in the heart of the capital, it consisted in the 17th century of several first-rate buildings: the Mazarin Palace, the Tubeuf Hotel, the Mansart Gallery... The library was installed on this site during the first half of the 18th century. It now houses exceptional collections: manuscripts from the oldest traces of human writing to manuscripts by contemporary writers, prints and photographs, music and performing arts collections, maps and plans and finally the museum of coins, medals and antiques. Entry is free. Visitors are allowed in the doorway area of the reading room to take photos. Only patrons are allowed to enter the full library. Upstairs is a smaller reading room reserved for researchers. The literary is construction and will be closed during the summer. Would suggest to visit their website for more details. Worth to visit as a tourist if you love architecture to come and take some quick photos.
Beautiful building and the main Salle Oval is mesmerising. Didn't pay to go to the museum as I thought it would be free, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. Otherwise really nice.
Amazing bibliothèque, well worth a visit if you are near Burren columns. Free entrance. Don’t forget to check out the two rooms ;
