I've gone to this Dental office for 32 years. Before Dr. Richard bought the business and after. I have never gone anywhere else. I called to schedule an appointment for a cleaning and because it's been a few years since they've seen me, I was told that they were going to have to set me up as a new customer and put me through a bunch of X-rays and assessments. I just wanted to go to the same place I've ALWAYS gone for a cleaning. But no. They refused me service. Unless I agreed to allow them to Fleece me for more money as a NEW Customer!? I own and operate my own business. So they're not fleecing some insurance company with this disgusting practice, they are fleecing me directly. IF I had a customer of 32 years come back to my shop, after not seeing them for a couple years, I would WELCOME them back! Not Refuse them service unless they paid more unnecessarily. They should be ashamed of predatory practices like this. Long story short, avoid this place. They have no concept of customer service nor the value of customer loyalty.
My family was referred to Dr. Richard by someone we trust. My first appointment with Dr. Richard went well. We were seeking a new dentist for the family because our previous Drs were across the border and with covid we needed to start all over with a new doctor. I suffer from pretty serious anxiety and thankfully felt at ease with Dr. Richard. She was very nice and I left her chair feeling positive. All that positivity left the room when I got to the front desk. The lady behind the counter asked if I had given the wrong birthdate of my spouse in regards to his health insurance...I replied with his birthdate and she said well your insurance doesn't work it says you have the wrong birthday. I ultimately showed her my insurance app on my phone showing her all the correct info, dental plan outlines etc . I expressed confusion as to the problem since we had the insurance for some time and had never had any issues billing direct. Ultimately she said she had an appointment that she had to leave the office for so I paid the bill with debit, they gave me the receipt to submit which I did and was reimbursed. While aggravating, I accepted that this could have been either a system error or clerical. Fast forward a couple weeks....my husband now makes an appointment ...on the phone they tell him there is a note on my acct saying that we must pay cash for all visits. He questions why....they say because we have no insurance. He calls RWAM on the phone ..inquires as to the issue....they say there is no issue and if the office needs clarification they can call them and they will answer their questions. So....my husband goes to his appointment as scheduled to get work he desperately needs done. The woman at the desk refused to even attempt to enter his insurance information again. Will not even try. She claims her office manager who is conveniently on vacation has instructed her that he is to pay cash only. He has NEVER even been there before...he is a new customer. With real, valid legitimate health insurance. She was rude to him, made him feel embarrassed and humiliated as the office had a number of people in it. She questioned his insistence on her submitting his insurance information as some type of scam...asking him...if they repaid you for your wife, then they'll repay you for this ..what's the problem? He explained to her that paying out of pocket wasn't the problem, but why should he wait over a week to be reimbursed when he has valid insurance that bills direct. And why should she treat him like there's some sort of financial problem when she hasn't even entered his information. She admitted to being unfamiliar with his insurance company, expressed confusion about both RWAM and Green shield listed on the card...my husband attempted to call the insurance company right there so she could speak to them and she further refused, saying it doesn't matter what they say....today you are paying out of pocket. I can't go against the office manager. What a horrible, horrible experience. Never ever have we been treated that way at any doctors office, pharmacy, eye clinic....we are a family of 5 that will never ever be returning to that office. I would never ask my family to be degraded that way again, very unfortunate given that I had thought we had found a good dentist in NB that we could build a long lasting relationship with. My husband ultimately left the office without being treated for his dental issue and now has to start the search over. I would never recommend anyone go here. Their true colours showed early on and for that we are blessed...no more wasted time.
Outstanding dentist. Would recommend
