Rich's House of Cakes

About

We are a 4th generation family-owned business in the Milwaukee with one thing in mind -- making great cakes!

Story

Since 1942, Rich’s House of Cakes has built a legacy for creating carefully crafted cakes that are as stunning to look at as they are delicious to eat. Since the day we opened, our family-owned business has never cut corners in our cakes or in our service, and we still hold ourselves to those same values four generations later. We always start with the finest all-natural ingredients and make each of our cakes entirely from scratch, just the way it should be done. With our own special blend of cream, high-quality fruits, and torte-style cakes with a filling in between two layers of cake, our creations are flavorful down to every last bite.

Ordered 2 generic cakes for my birthday. Not nowhere near what it used to be. I'd rather drive to Aggies in West Allis for a better cake. You shouldn't have to pre-order and pay more to hope you get something good. For the price paid, it should have been good. Won't be back.

bought a cake from here and of course before I did I looked around.....(not the first time I bought from rich's) went to a place called Aggies on 73rd and greenfield and was super impressed but not any last minute designs were available for a boy...so went to rich's and ended up buying a cake...and let me tell you this will be the last time I do so....cake was super dry and just plain disgusting tasted like cardboard....this is the second time this has happened to me. The first time was when I special ordered a cake. I was even more disappointed when I called and there's nothing they could do and I followed exactly by the instructions. I ended up going back to Aggies and buying the cake I was going too from the beginning. The cake was already premade but it was definitely the best cake I have had in a long time!!! To top it off it was the same size as rich's but way more cheaper!!!! AND BETTER!!!!! think twice people about rich's cakes!!

I see why their bakery went out of business in waukesha. I cant complain about the taste. The brandy cake is awesome. But, i hate to say they rip you off with the cake size. Example, if you order a 12 inch cake, it looks huge right? When you cut it your actually getting about two sizes smaller cake, theres more frosting then what you can imagine. You have to keep scraping off frosting to get to the little bread inside, very dissapointing. And second the last time i bought a brandy cake, the lady was holding the cake and sneezed right over it, i didnt say anything and nor she apologized or tossed it out to give me another from fridge. Yes, sadly and embarrasing i still bought it and took it home just because i didnt want to be rude. That was the last time i ever went back.

The woman who took care of us was very nice and helpful with all of our questions..but the cakes they sell are overpriced and flavorless. They use the same "whipped topping" on all of their cakes. Inside and out. And too much of it. My family and I ended up throwing half of it away since there's not enough cake for the amount of whipped topping on these cakes. Plus, the cake was dry. The decorating looks like a 3rd grader did it. For the amount your paying, they should have a master decorator working on those cakes in the back, AND they should be top quality, gourmet cakes. Save yourself money and go to a Pick N Save or a Metro Market. Better cake decorators, better taste, and it's cheaper.

I went to this place two weeks before my daughters first birthday party to order her cake, the cake was suppose to be 3 layers because we had a lot of people coming. When we got the cake my daughters name was spelled wrong and the fondant was cracked all around the second layer of the cake and the top which was suppose to be cake was styrofoam. I called the place and told them about the name being spelled wrong and the cracking so they send the owners wife to fix it. She was using her fingers and kept wipping them on her jeans, which was unsanitary because she didn't wash her hands. We were very disappointed and upset, but It was to late to do anything we hoped it at least tasted good. When it came time to cut the cake it kept falling apart, it tasted horrible the strawberries were bad and the cake was hard. Pretty much everyone at the party saw the cake and was shocked that an "actual" cake place had made it. My expectations we high since we paid almost $500 for it but I was extremely disappointed and it ruined my daughters first birthday party. This place is horrible and I will never ever go there again!
