Story

Established in 1963, Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon, Ohio is located nine miles south of Lake Erie. The grounds feature cherry, per blossom, and dogwood trees, as well as six garden features including an 18 foot tall granite Bible with the Lord’s prayer.

Resthaven Memory Gardens offers traditional in-ground burial, lawn crypts, mausoleums, double depth non-denominational niches, and private estates.

This isn't even one star...I buried both of my parents at Rest Haven almost five years ago. My only ongoing issue with them is that they continue to try and sell me a burial plot even after dozens of attempts to have me removed from their mailing lists. Finally, after four years of receiving mailers and having my husband contact their headquarters did we stop receiving them. Thinking I was done with their constant need to sell me something, I received a sales call last week from someone at Rest Haven. I don't know why they can't remove me from their lists even after repeated requests. I do not live near Avon nor do I want to be buried near my parents. DO NOT do business with this funeral provider, they have no compassion for those who have had to bury their loved ones. They just want to sell more plots in a clearly unpopular cemetery.

Honestly I wish I could not give a star. We buried my father in Feb and for a month the site looked like utterly crap. I complained 3 times only for them to get my mom to pay her open and close with discount. I have picture proof of the disgrace. My parents purchased their plots years ago but if we would have known it was going to be like this it would have never happened. Oh and when we called to confirm the plots and usage of one they tried to say my parents purchased 3 plots but that was a lie was only 2 plots with volt. We went up there to sign everything and pay for open/close we seen that someone wrote over the copy they had and crossed stuff out. Needless to say we got what was paid for per we had original copy. Well I went up to visit my dad and it is poorly taken care of I know it has to settle but still don't need to look like crap in the process. Again I took pictures. I say something needs to be done about the lack of care, disrespect, and basically out to make a buck when someone is in a vulnerable state of mind. Keep in mind it floods there as well. Something should be done about that as well. I rate them below a zero in my eyes, I could have done a better job.

I tried to call and leave a message regarding a plot only to discover the mailbox was FULL? Not a very responsible action for an organization that cannot plan when they need to contact your place of business.

Came in from out of town after many years to visit my brother's grave and could not recognize the place. Almost all of the nice shrubs are gone, all the gardens and landscaped areas are gone, even the circle of shrubs is gone around the Lord's Prayer, the grass has deteriorated to a nearly wild state from what once looked like a lawn. The nice japanese yews that lined a walk way to the sculpture are all gone... and many graves are either growing over or newer ones left as bare dirt ... the chapel doors were open and its interior empty but for pews, the door itself was in need of maintenance. This once nicely landscaped place is now in serious decline. Sadly my brother could never have expected this when he purchased his lots for future use.. From its web site Resthaven now seems to be part of some national chain that is not maintaining these plots with care. The only thing that is decent about this cemetery is the large number of flowers placed by relatives in the markers' urns. I hope they replant and improve their landscaping and then keep maintaining it. Right now that would be a major effort, but badly needed!

They called to say "there was a piece of property up here at Rest Haven issued to my husband and me. The certificate has been sitting up here for years unclaimed. We are not even sure if you knew you owned this, so if you could give a call to the office, that would be great. The number is 934-6555 and just ask for Mark when you call." I feel this is some type of sales gimmick. We have never purchased property there and never will. Too many bad reviews!
