Ray's Original Buffalo Wings

About

Traditional Buffalo style chicken wings, chicken fingers, unique Buffalo food items, burgers, daily specials and more!

Story

Proprietors Ray and Lorri Bullock first opened Ray's Original Buffalo Wings in the early 1990's on South 96th Street in Omaha, Nebraska. Quickly earning the reputation as Omaha’s best Buffalo Chicken Wing the eatery went on to win “Best Wing” in Omaha 9 out of 10 years it was open.
Our history actually starts in Buffalo, NY where Ray was raised and first started eating Chicken Wings in the 1960's. Like most kids in the Buffalo area he worked at a local pizzeria in the 70's and learned how to make the culinary delights. It took another 20 years for the craze to hit Omaha!
For 10 years Ray's served the best Buffalo Wings in the city and by many accounts in the entire Midwest! However both Ray and Lorri also had full time jobs outside of running a restaurant as well as 4 kids they were raising, so Ray's closed just after the start of the new century.
Now after a decade plus has gone by, the kids are grown and gone. Ray's job of 27 years has recently come to an end and it was a natural fit to re-open Ray's Wings.
What is even MORE exciting is the opportunity to open it inside one of South Omaha's best Bars, The Lemon Drop Bar on South 36th Street!
As in the past Ray's will serve the same award winning Buffalo Style chicken wings and Chicken Fingers with both the ever so addicting Buffalo Style sauce as well as our homemade BBQ sauce. Our Cocaine Blue Cheese dressing will be available as well so have no fear, the old Ray's is here again. (Note to law enforcement, there is no cocaine in the dressing it is just that damn addicting) :)
Here is the some more really good news, we will also be serving handmade burgers and other griddle faire too. We will have daily specials for lunch, homemade soups and holiday/seasonal themed items as well. All of this will be available for take-out or please sit down, have a cold beer and enjoy the Lemon Drop Bar’s awesome atmosphere and personalities that you will find there. There is NO better place in Omaha to get Wings and Beer than Ray’s Original Buffalo Wings located inside The Lemon Drop Bar!

I was a huge fan of rays wings until they moved to the new location in midtown. Came in 1 friday afternoon for lunch and had their buffet, the wings were incredibly dry. So i thought I'd give it another try without the buffet and once again i was very disappointed... i guess rays lost some of their humbleness moving uptown.... oh and the manager with the tatoos on his arms was rude. Rays fell off!

Went there with friends. I got the garlic parmesan sauce on my wings loved it! The hubs ordered the XX sauce. It was too spicy and he only ate half of his wings. But he still liked them just a bit too much heat. Next time he will back off on the spice. We were there durning the Nebraska game so got in on drink specials. We will definitely go back.

Went to Ray's for the first time tonight--soft opening menu was in place. I originally ordered a salad, but was advised they would not be serving salads until next week--no big deal, I ordered some yummy Curly Q fries instead. My husband ordered a single order of wings with sweet chili, and he was happy with the size of the wings, and he loved the sauce as well. Great staff and friendly managers. Our food happened to be prepared that was unsatisfactory to the manager and he came to our table to let us know, and apologized for the long wait. We weren't upset by it though, and it was appreciated. Over all, Ray's is great. Lovely staff, decent prices on food...we will certainly be going back!

Went with a work group for lunch. Terribly long wait and then the wings appetizer was COLD and weird tasting. The fries were fine, but ... the long wait and odd tasting wings likely means I won't return. Staff apologized for being busy, but they didn't appear to be so, and there were 4-5 people in the kitchen. As a former server, their excuses didn't cut it with me. Best of luck ...

Awful experience. Waited over an hour for our food. The wings and fries were cold. The breading on the boneless wings was virtually nonexistent. Texture of the chicken was rubbery. It's one thing to wait a long time for good food, but to wait more than 1 hour for gross, cold food? .... No thank you!
