Story

When you come to The Raven, you’ll immediately notice something different; a feeling you can’t quite put your finger on. Part Hogwarts and part Cheers, the Raven is a unique place. When you step through the doors, you’ll get the distinct feeling you’re walking into a story. The walls are decorated with beautiful woodwork and packed with books, posters, and artwork of all varieties. Whatever time of day you visit, you’ll find an energetic atmosphere filled with the aroma of just-brewed coffee and, if you’re lucky, the smell of freshly-baked cookies or brownies.

Housed in a historic downtown building, The Raven boasts two floors, each with a distinct personality. Downstairs you’ll find a living dining room that feels larger than life. Dominated by a Tiffany chandelier, gorgeous bar, and the stage above the foyer; when you’re downstairs, you’re in the middle of the action. Customers come and go, picking up their morning coffee or an afternoon pick-me-up, and the barista bustles around behind the bar, whipping up all manner of delectably drinkable treats.

Upstairs, you’ll find a different sort of environment. Bookshelves cover every wall but one; the wall overlooking the river is entirely windows and hung with stained glass. Up here, you’ll find a different atmosphere every time. Stop in for lunch and you’ll find a bustling atmosphere full of people having their midday meal. Visit in mid-afternoon, relax with a drink on one of our comfy couches, and you’ll get a distinct feels-like-your-living-room vibe. Stay for the evening and you’ll find a romantic environment, frequently filled with the music of one of our talented musical guests.

THE PEOPLE
Beyond the place itself, The Raven simply wouldn’t be what it is without its people. Family owned and operated, The Raven boasts an amazing crew. We love and celebrate the diversity and creativity of our staff. Filled with musicians, actors and artists of all stripes; we’re different and we love it. The people of The Raven are a big part of what makes it so special, but it’s not just the staff.

A huge part of what makes The Raven the place it is, is you, our amazing customers. Our customers are just as eclectic and wonderfully weird as we are, and we love you for it. Our customers range from college students studying, to people who work downtown stopping in for lunch. From the regulars who know everyone by first name to those stopping in for the first time, we welcome everyone equally. When you’re here, you’re family.

THE FARE
Beyond the atmosphere and the people, we also serve a vast selection of amazing drinks, food and desserts. Our menus (Three, in total!) contain an incredibly wide selection of delicious drinks, fantastic food, and delectable desserts. We’re a full-service coffee house and serve an excellent array of espresso drinks, smoothies, and coffee shakes in addition to five different coffee roasts. In addition, we also offer a full bar with an assortment of Michigan-brewed craft beers on tap and mouth-watering craft cocktails. If you’re hungry, we serve a wide variety of oven-baked and grilled sandwiches, massive meal-sized salads, and nine scrumptious soups every single day. When you’re all done, tuck in for dessert and enjoy a hot fudge brownie sundae or our mouth-watering strawberry shortcake.

Whatever you’re in the mood for, we’ve got you covered. Thanks for coming to The Raven.

Welcome home.

My wife and I stumbled into this most wonderful place simply in search of good take-out coffee for our Sunday afternoon drive. Based on our delightful first impressions, happy, unique and truly interesting ambience and a quick chat with our extremely friendly and relaxed server, we quickly abandoned the idea of coffees to go, and stayed for lunch. This restaurant/ coffee house/ tavern/lounge carries an Edgar Allen Poe/college town/library theme throughout, including the menu, with upper, lower and outdoor serving areas. Fun to tour and people-watch... but... on to the food. Menu offerings include many wonderful choices of appetizers, unique sandwiches, full complement of homemade soups, salads, pizzas and more. We enjoyed soup and sanwich, both worth the trip by themselves. During a chat with a couple of local regulars, we were told the salads are one of a kind and pizzas are way beyond what is available at your local chain pizzeria. We are already making plans to visit again, but with a group of friends, and on an evening offering live music!🤗😄 If you think you'd feel happy and comfortable hanging out in this fascinating environment, offering a sort of off-campus Harvard or Yale comfy feel... definitely worth the drive.... oh yeah, the coffees were also amazing!

Awesome atmosphere. Awesome book. Great beverages. Tasty food. This is a must when visiting Port Huron. Perfect place to read, catch up with friends, get some work done. This is my GO TO place to spend time and visit with a friend or even hang out late on a weekday night. Go hear, relax, read a book. Seriously, you will not regret a minute. -Loyal patron since it opened (even though I moved away to Tennessee, I STILL visit here with friends every time I come)

Great Cafe with specialty coffees and teas. Excellent desserts. More room upstairs were you can relax and read a book. Not modern, It is very nostalgic. Enjoy, from the women across the pond.

The Raven is by far one of the best cafes I have been to, if not the best!!It has a very cool theme, the service is amazing and waiters are very friendly. The food and beverages are great, and food comes out fast. The soups and sandwiches are delicious as well. There is also a great variety of books.

I grew up going to this place as a teen. Very artsy and the books are old and available to read while you're there! The live music they have every so often is a great enjoyment. A very cute cozy place. I suggest the Hazelnut Carmel Latte
