My girlfriend and I decided to try this place in search of new ramen. We both had the miso vegetarian soup. The mushrooms were flavoured really nicely but we both felt something was missing, perhaps tofu? We shared one of the tiny desserts after coconut/mango pudding. Atmosphere could be improved by music and offering complimentary tea. One minor detail to mention is we both experienced a lot of gas on the journey home. Definitely want to make sure you’re comfortable farting around your partner. Don’t recommend for first dates or new couples as farting extends well into the evening
Decided to try this ramen shop nearby when visiting a friend and for our first time here, it was quite good! I ordered the Yokohama Iekei ramen and my friend ordered the Tonkotsu black garlic ramen. The iekei ramen came with bouncy, thick noodles paired with a very thick pork and chicken broth. It was very rich in flavour that lingered on your tongue. The tonkotsu ramen came with thin noodles I usually order them to be cooked a little more firm so that when it sits in your soup as you eat, it stays chewy instead of soft/soggy. The broth has a rich flavour but it's definitely lighter than the iekei. For our side dish, we ordered the okonomi gyoza and it was a fun take on the original. I would love to come here again to try the other bowls!
Gaoh has been around for a long time and our go-to ramen place as far as I can remember. Through all of those menu changes, quality of foods has been very consistent. Currently our favorites are tsukemen and iekei ramen. Really like the broth and chachu!nSpecial mention to truffle gyoza. It may sound a bit weird combination but it works well!
I love coming to Ramen Gaoh when I want a spicy bowl of ramen. I always order the scorpion ramen all level 3 with chasiu on the side. For a person who eats spicy food often, this is not too spicy and hits the spot. I like the uniqueness of the numbing spice. I think they use some sort of Szechuan peppercorns. However, the temperature of the broth is on the warm side and not hot. Parking is a little tricky especially if you go during the weekend.
I had Yuzu shio ramen and gyoza. The ramen was delicious, and I enjoyed both the noodles and the broth. It's a bit disappointing that the chicken chashu was cold and the gyoza was a bit small.
