We were tucked in to Railroad Square at the first Keene Pride event and it was a beautiful spot with a lush lawn and granite benches built in. The neighboring businesses were wonderful hosts! Dog-friendliness: Keene was fabulously dog friendly, and the spot at Railroad Square was perfect for our shop dog Oudin who attended the festival with us!
This railroad square is a cultural and historical hub for the great city of Keene. The beginning point for a wall mural tour in Keene's downtown showcasing local history for starters. The junction point for several trail systems in including rails-to-trails; the Wantastiquet Monadnock Trail threads its way from the Connecticut River to the summit of Mt Monadnock and passes through this former railroad depot, too! Several locally owned shops and eateries along Main Street can be sighted along this square including the 1920s era Colonial Theatre. All-in-all Keene's Railroad Square captures the history of Keene while remaining relevant in these evolving modern times.
