Honestly meh. Middle of the pack hotel. I was there for a long weekend and an extra day.nnThe good.nn1. My room was updated, I had one of the few rooms with a balcony.nn2. The service from the hotel staff was great, especially thier roaving security guard who helped me find my way around after I parked.nn3. I also enjoyed the semi-secure parking garage. It was good to have covered parking with sudbury and winter weather.nn4. The location is fantastic, attached to a decent mall in a very central location for everything you need in Sudbury. I really enjoyed the balcony and bed, but this was the best feature. Location. Location. Location.nnThe bad.nn1. This hotel advertises a hot tub, that's a bold lie. It's covered with painted plywood and fake plants, clearly not temporary and there's no intent to fix the hot tub; this is one of the criteria I look for when booking especially on longer stays.nn2. The free breakfast, it wasn't the best but it was included, the eggs where very watery and sausages 4 days in a row gets old quick.nn3. The parking garage; the hotel gives you a pass that lets you exit the garage that is supposed to last the duration of your stay, mine did not, twice it stopped working and I had to back up, park, and walk to the front desk to get a new exit ticket.nn4. The water pressure/bathroom. There's limited water pressure which is terrible for showers not to mention the hot water runs out quick on weekends when they have a lot of guests not a problem during slower week days. There's also an issue with the toliets flushing, this was the first time I've ever seen a toliet partially clog with no solids except a small amount of toliet paper blowing my nose. Also! Make sure you pack body wash and shampoo, they only provide a small bottle of each.nnRemember folks, you get what you pay for and a sometimes a little less.
We chose this hotel for me and my family to stay because it was close to service canada walking distance despite the negative comments about it.nnI did not expect much and I dont need a grand hotel, just a place to sleep and go about what we have to do in Sudbury.nnI booked the same day and we arrived 10pm,nThe one in the lobby 2 guys were very accommodating.nReceptionist patiently taught us how to go to the parking, how to go back to the hotel and so on.nParking building was connected to the mall parking but they have designated area where to park if you are staying at the hotel. Parking is free btw they will give you a card.nnWe stayed in a Queen bedroom with sofa,nHotel is old and outdated but it is just ok for the price.nThis is the only 3 star hotel we have stayed in that me and my kids did not get any rash or red itch spots.nBed and pillow was comfortable and bed was not too high we like this toonWe did not use the closet. Washroom was just fine but it was clean.nnBreakfast buffet was open i think 6:30am-9:30amnResto Staff was also nice esp the asian guy.nThey have egg, potatoes, waffle, sausage, bread, muffinnEtc.. nothing special just a typical 3 star hotel breakfast.nIt was good since it's just included in our hotel stay.nnUpon check out, the 2 ladies accommodated us nicely as well.nStaff were really great to be honest. I have a lot of questions since we are new in the area but they were definitely patient with me.nnGood stay for us all in allnHowever, this hotel definitely needs a renovation.
Our business stay at the Radisson in Sudbury was unfortunately not what we expected. The hotel is in a convenient downtown location, close to restaurants and right beside a small shopping mall — though it’s clearly seen better days. The proximity to everything is nice in theory, but the area felt a bit rough, with quite a few homeless individuals walking around nearby, which made the surroundings feel uneasy at times.nnInside, the service was good — staff at the front desk were polite and did their best to be accommodating. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives mostly end. The hallway carpets had a strong, unpleasant odor, which hit you as soon as you stepped out of the elevator. The rooms were large, which we appreciated, but they were quite dated and worn down. Furniture looked tired, the décor felt stuck in the early 2000s, and the overall cleanliness was below average.nnThe TV was small, the air felt musty, and the smell lingered enough to make it hard to relax. It’s clear the hotel needs a deep renovation and some serious attention to maintenance and ventilation.nnWhile the staff were friendly and professional, the condition of the property really overshadows that effort. For the price and the Radisson name, we expected something cleaner and fresher.nnOverall, this hotel might work if you absolutely need to stay downtown and want larger rooms, but it’s far from comfortable. With the odors, aging interiors, and worn-out feel, it’s hard to recommend unless major updates are made.
I spent two nights here on a work trip. Night one I noticed that the room was not as clean or as well maintained as I would like and that the bathroom smelled of cigarettes.. but at first I thought it was passable for a couple nights on a work trip. I did notice that there was water damage on the ceiling and on one wall.nnI ate at pestos my first night, the food did not meet my expectations and the service was not very attentive despite there only being 3 tables of guests. Breakfast was mediocre. The yogurt offered was room temp/warm by 730amnnThe hotel was very loud through the night, consistent door slamming which woke me several times. The hallways were overall a negative experience with musty, dirty carpets.nnDay two, I returned from dinner to the fire alarms going with guests inside the lobby and outside the hotel. There were no staff visible to explain the situation. The fire department did show up and give the all clear about 20 minutes after I got there.nnI had to switch rooms at 1130pm on my second night because there was a leak in my ceiling bad enough that the noise of dripping water woke me. I was worried about damage to the building or a surprise 3am shower, so I called the front desk. The receptionist said they would see if there was another room available and to give them 5 minutes.. 15 minutes later I called back and had to ask for an update. I was instructed to come to the front desk for a new key, and had to bring all of my items down with no offer of a luggage cart being brought to me for the inconvenience. I was moved to a basement level, conjoined room, that smelled of cigarette smoke where I immediately found a hair in the bed...nnI did not feel safe here as a female traveling alone, the area is known for being one of the worst in Sudbury, and I did not like being on the main level with a patio door to outside given the number of homeless people in the area.nnSave yourself the trouble - I debated sleeping in my car in the parking garage over staying the second night here.
My experience here was absolutely awful. Half of the rooms have electrical problems, when you turn on the bathroom light it turns on the lights in the whole roomwaking everyone up in the middle of the night just to pee?? Also the hotel was bombarded by a bunch of hockey children, with parents that did not care whatsoever about them, nor did the hotel do anything to correct their behavior. These children were playing MINI HOCKEY IN THE HALLWAY OUTSIDE MY ROOM. I called complaining, they said they'd send security. Guess what? They didn't. I leave to go for some tims, as I do I see that these children have taken over this whole hotel playing hockey in the lobby, hallways, screaming, running into walls, knocking on everyones door. And the hotel allows that? That's apparently normal? Absolutely insane. Worst hotel experience ever. I will not be coming back, nor will my friends and family. I will literally be telling everyone that you guys let children and parents take over the whole hotel and do whatever they want, banging their hockey sticks on my door. Absolutely unacceptable. There's either 0 security or they just do not care. I understand the hotel must make crazy money from all these hockey kids, but you're just as easily going to be losing a lot because now everyone that was there that night will never come back knowing they will be bombarded by children and that this is NOT a proper, professional hotel whatsoever. Save your money and sanity, go elsewhere.
