Cockroaches, rats, ants you name it. Also if you are lucky, the water line in the storage room will leak
Worst apartment I've ever had the misfortune of living in.nnThe windows only open a couple inches and do not allow for sufficient air circulation. This creates poor air quality and worst of all, bakes the apartment to intolerable levels of heat from March until November, which makes it imperative to get a special 600 dollar AC that will fit the windows.nnThe whole building is infested with ants and cockroaches. I have lost so much food in the year I lived here from finding ants crawling through it. Christmas was ruined when ants nested an entire colony in our box of stuffing, hundreds and hundreds of ants poured all over our food. They are fully aware that this building is infested and need to fumigate but they just refuse to. I've had pest control come here multiple times and didn't help at all.nnFire alarms go off multiple times a month because of pipe leaks, most often in the middle of the night. Renovations are also constant, making this build absurdly noisy to live in.nnThe office staff are extremely rude, indifferent at best. Do not expect to have any concerns addressed, ever. The cleaners and superintendents are nice though.nnLaundry machines are constantly broken too.nnI'm not exaggerating when I say that moving here was the worst mistake I've ever made.
While yes, there are your usual mice and roach problems as such with most apartment living situations, however the management and staff are super friendly and helpful. Attentive, caring, and easy to chat with.
I have live in a couple of places in Halifax. This one would be the best of them. Nice and clean maintenance. They have a brand new gym with great equipments. Killam is a great company. The only issue in the apartment would be the size of rooms. They are often small. Apart from that, everything else would be great. Good one to stay in.
cons: Small apartments for the price, bedroom barely fits a queen size bed. Some staff is friendly but some are quite rude and off-putting. Have had issues receiving other tenants mail, making me wonder if any of mine has gone to someone else. Insufferably and almost dangerously hot in the summer, you’ll need an AC unit, have slept in my car in the underground parking on a few occasions as it is so unbearable. Fire alarm has gone off at least 5 times in the past few months which feels ridiculous, not Killam fault, probably just kids smoking in their apartments and setting off the alarm. Renovations have been going on, can be kind of alarming to wake up to someone working outside your window when you’re on one of the top floors.nnPros: Convenient location, a bit overpriced for what you get but not bad for the area. Haven’t had any maintenance experience so I can’t comment on the quality or speed of any repairs. I don’t plan on renewing my lease but only because I am moving out of Halifax. I would have considered renewing as it wasn’t THAT bad overall but definitely nothing impressive.
