Quarry is a solid choice in Yellowknife. Even if you don't live in Cheateau Nova, it is worth coming here as they have a great variety of options on the menu. Its greatest advantage is that it is right at where you live. There are limited restaurant options in Yellowknife. You are not going to eat at downtown every day - especially if it is cold outside. We tried out their 14 oz Rib Eye Steak and the Baby Back Ribs honey garlic. The steak was really good. The meat is tender with the delicious sauce. It is just as tasty or even more so as you'd expect from other Canadian cities. Remember we are in Yellowknife, where groceries are hard to come by. The back ribs are not bad, but the meat texture is not as tender as I expected. The only thing is that I asked for medium rare, perhaps their definition is a bit different here but it looked more well-done. The steak was still tender and juicy - so it was fine. However, the bread they give was dry and coarse, which could use some improvements. Since I was impressed with the dinner experience, I came here to try their continental breakfast. It is buffet style, but nothing too special, basically what you would expect for a motel/lower-end breakfast. So I didn't take any photos. The lighting is quite dim, which could get depressing during the winter. It was also very quiet, it would be nice to have some music. Overall, it is still a great restaurant and I would definitely come back for the steak.
The food are presented nicely. The waiters are cordial though it took awhile to get their attention at the end. The food is okaysteak is wel done rather than medium rare. The wings are good not as hot as I anticipated. Will be coming back!
Quarry was such a hidden gem in Yellowknife. The servers were all very attentive and friendly. The service was outstanding. Their menus had a great variety of food - steak, chicken, pasta, seafood, salads, burgers... you name it. We tried their bison short ribs, fettuccine alfredo, chicken wings, signature burger, sticky toffee pudding, and their homemade apple pie. All their food was great and of good value.
Food is very delicious, especially the chicken soup. Loved the desserts, was definitely worth more than the price. The restaurant was already fully booked when we came at 6pm, hence it’s better to do a reservation.
I would not highly recommend here the food did not taste good and the smell was like a rotten meat. I called the server to change the food. I said EXCUSE ME in a manner way but this lady in the photo wearing a pink coat intervene and she told me why I was yelling her which is not true. I thought she just a customer and she was there like a visitor or by stander and she was dancing around. This was happened last Friday February 24 2023 between 5 to 6:30 pm.
Brunch menu is quite disappointing. Unlike the dinner menu which btw offers a great selection of food, the choices were not diverse. The Alfredo was cheesy but bland in taste. In addition, The drinking water smells like bleach . However, I’ll give credit to the calamari, though. Twas crunchy with the right amount of salt and pepper. Love the dessert with caramel,it’s just the right amount, the sweetness of the caramel compliments to the bitter pudding and the vanilla ice cream balances all the taste
Service is mixed I'd say. Sometimes friendly, sometimes dead inside. Either way, I've been there 3 times and the service always consists of this. They take forever to take your order, and when they do, the servers tend to be unaware of what's on their OWN menu. After that, they take forever to bring it to you and at that point of waiting so long usually around 45+ minutes you pray they didn't screw something up, which they usually do. Went in once with 4 other people restaurant was mostly empty btw, and it took them around 25 minutes to bring us a beer each.......what.
Had a bison burger and fries. Very good food! The daily specials that show online are not always correct. Happy hour menu seems correct however. Don’t forget this is Yellowknife so the beer/drink prices will be 30-40% higher than what you’re used to in the rest of Canada. Server was great but I forget her name!
I came in on Saturday morning, about 40 minutes before I had a tour. After reading the reviews on here, I looked at the menu, and told them what I wanted when they sat me down to avoid any delays. I ordered the French toast. There were only 3 other occupied tables, and about 4 wait staff, but they seemed to be a bit unorganized, and others would kinda kick in when they notice something, for example, no one filled my water cup when I first sat, so another one noticed and did it. The french toast was nicely plated, 3 slices of bread. Warm. One guy brought over the maple syrup, but it was broken. Anyways, the food itself was good. I'm not a foodie so I can't say if it was $12 worth good, but I didn't have a problem with it. I thank them for trying to speed up when I told them I don't have long, and all the waiters stepping in even if it may not be their table.
Oh dear...‍ Waited almost an hour for my meal. Would've left but was staying at the hotel. If you have time to spare then by all means have at it, otherwise you might want to consider other options around town. Sorry Quarry, it's a thumbs waaaay down from me.
