Story

Pudgie’s Pizza, & Subs opened its first pizza and sub operation in Elmira, N.Y. in April of 1963. The owners Charles Cleary (Pudgie), Francis Cleary (Franky the cheese), and Mike Cleary. The three brothers did not expect to start a franchise when they opened up the first Pudgie's. Pudgie's Pizza Franchising Corp. was started in 1972 after having great success in the pizza business. Cortland Pudgie's is ownedand operated by Bill and Joanne Cleary. Bill is the son of Frankie the cheese (Francis Cleary)

This place is a joke. Here on bussiness and staying at the holiday Inn express. I heard people say to go there but when reading the reviews people had mentioned how rude they were. Well, they are right. We were about to order pizza's for a party and the girl who answered the phone was so rude she even hung up on me. Then the manager was not any better. This place is so bad I wouldn't spend my last dollar there. Holiday Inn needs to get them off their delivery menu. Shame on this place!

Lately, it's been a hit and miss. This used to be my favorite pizza place in cortland, but they have been very inconsistent these past few years. Too often our pizza is undercooked. Wings are always perfect. However, I ordered a party pack a few minutes ago and forgot to add extra belu cheese. So I called to order it right after I hung up. This girl told me it would be $3.02. Mind you, I just ordered a $43 party pack and extra sauce is .50cents. She told me that they had to add on an extra delivery fee! Are you kidding me?

Pudgies is probably the worst pizza option in town, having now tried them all. Some locals have nostalgia for it, but when you walk in you can't help but question their sanitation standards. The service is on the slow and rude side and the pizza itself reminded me of high school cafeteria pizza. Thick undercooked crust, bland sauce, cheap cheese. People raving about the wings needs to go anywhere else to try good wings. Let's be honest, pizza and wings are not difficult to get right, yet pudgies manages to not only screw them up but is rude and slow at the same time. How they are still in business astounds me.

Wings were amazing. Took too long for the food to come out but when it did it was really good. Will go back again. A little on the expensive side.
