Generally a good experience for the IMAX, however during big events the little concession area gets really busy. I went to the normal concession area where the soda was completely flat. The only complaint about the viewing experience is that the IMAX projector lens has a small bit of debris on it in the upper right of the center part of the screen. I wouldn't say anything normally but I think it was there during Oppenheimer and Dune Part 2, many months apart.
The staff are great, but there are far too many people that come to this theater to justify coming anymore. Just about every movie I see here nowadays people will be on their phone the entire movie. If you do bring this up to the staff though they will get you into a different showing, which is very nice. But it's just not worth seeing movies in such a large city hub like this anymore. One time in the Imax some people got into a fist fight during Avatar - we didn't get a refund for that one though and haven't been back since
We went to see Oppenheimer in 15-perf 70mm IMAX. The projector or reel broke down, so the theater played the movie in digital. I was one of the first to leave to get a refund. Those who stayed behind said that the picture quality was atrocious – it looked like a 3D movie before you put the 3D glasses on. I walked back into the theater to verify and can confirm this is true.nnI strongly recommend that the theater not play a movie when it is out of focus under any circumstances. The theater did this despite ushers witnessing the lack of focus and customers complaining about it.nnThe theater should also allow more than one person to process refunds. Management confirmed to me that only one person was authorized to issue refunds, even though there were four staff members behind the counter. This is not reasonable when a screening is botched and hundreds of people need refunds. We waited in line for 30+ minutes even though we were one of the first to leave the theater. If a screening needs to be cancelled, customers should not have to choose between forfeiting their money or their time.nnI’m giving this theater 5 stars anyway because they are one of 30 theaters in the world to offer 15-perf 70mm IMAX. While most IMAX theaters just play movies in 2K, this theater’s projection system should be capable of 18K. I appreciate that the theater continues to support immersive resolution, despite the setbacks.nnOnce we got through the line, Providence Place refunded our tickets and issued 2 comp tickets when we asked for them. We used these to see Barbie, and it helped to offset our transportation cost to get to Rhode Island.nnI have reserved tickets for the soonest 15-perf 70mm IMAX showtime where we could get decent seats, and I look forward to trying this experience again.nnI would love to see this theater open up more Oppenheimer showtimes to meet demand, and I’d also happily buy tickets for other 70mm IMAX shows when they’re available, such as special screenings of Nolan’s past work.
First time in years I wasn't allowed to bring an outside drink into a movie theater. The guy scanning tickets made me throw out my coffee that I had bought 2 minutes earlier inside the mall. They also haven't updated the seating. Warwick Showcase is 10 times nicer and cleaner, and doesn't have kids loudly talking in every screening of every movie.
Movies magic and memories I love travel and visiting movie theaters I haven’t been to before especially when they have 70 millimeter film and imax which are two things that definitely you don’t get while streaming. It’s a great spot up in Rhode Island if your passing through or up for any good movie that can be exprienced
