This was the best meal of our entire honeymoon and perhaps it might be the best meal of our entire lives. Everything about Provender was perfect! The food, the atmosphere, and the service were top notch! We ordered the bison tartare for an appetizer, and the pesto chicken and steak dishes for our entrees and ended the evening with lemon meringue. All of our dishes were perfectly balanced and you could taste the love and care in every bite! We were able to meet the chef, Daron and thank him in person for the meal! Just so you know, in order to eat here you need to book an online reservation that would take a deposit to hold your spot. After your meal you will be refunded your deposit! If you can get a reservation, this is an absolute must do!!!

In a geography rich in natural beauty and splendor, we found no culinary experience to match its wonder. And then we found Provender. The short menu had a myriad of inventive possibilities to explore. Service was impeccable from the beginning. We walked in and the staff made sure to find us accommodations with little wait time. Though we opted to dine outdoors, the indoor ambience was welcoming. First course of Maine mussels was bursting with flavor from wholesome and simple ingredients. Second course was equally delightful. We couldn’t contain how refreshing and delicious everything was and were treated to a visit by the chef. Their food spoke volumes, but their down-to-earth passion about food became ever more evident. We immediately made future reservations before we leave the region. Wherever you are in the Bar Harbor area, plan ahead, make reservations and look forward to having one of the most pleasurable meals of your life.
We have been to Provender a couple of times now but last night was special. They hosted a reservation only Pre Fixe Valentine's Day dinner which was so delicious. It was such a great experience. No wait, delicious cocktails, incredible - well thought out courses, impeccable service. This isn't just a hidden gem, this is one of the best restaurants in Maine.
Went out to celebrate my birthday while visiting the area. Got to meet one of the owners and hear a bit of her story. Super friendly folks and an awesome menu, not a bad bite in the bunch. The Pink Lady cocktail was unique and very tasty on the sweeter side, but not cloying. Got the steak tartare, chicken liver mousse, Iberico pork belly, Scallops, and the NY Strip, plus the cheesecake and creme brulee for dessert. Left truly satisfied and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Will definitely be back again when visiting. This is a must visit! Make sure you make a reservation online as it is very busy.
Provender has been my favorite restaurant in Downeast Maine since 2018, when I made my first visit. It's always a wonderful menu with gluten-free options and great cocktails! Darren & Joy have a fantastic restaurant for locals, visitors and special occasions. I can't give enough stars!
Sirloin steak was excellent. As were the Brussels sprouts and octopus appetizers. I appreciated the bartender’s quick service. Perhaps the bar stools could be positioned for tall people over 6 feet? Had to manspread at first before angling to my wife which was fine actually. So maybe there is logic involved with the bar seats. That didn’t matter though, we enjoyed our dinner and thank the establishment for their service and food.
DINNER SALADS= PERFECTION HALIBUT DINNER=PERFECTION 10oz Steak dinner = PERFECTION Brownie ice cream desert= AMAZING. I FORGOT TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE MAIN DISHES BEST DINNER WE HAD IN OUR VACATION. SERVICE WAS GREAT AND THE STAFF WORKED GREAT TOGETHER. WE LEAVE TOMORROW AND WISH WE COULD COME BACK. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!
Everything is so delicious! The food, drinks, dessert, everything! It's a bit pricey but totally worth it. The drinks were strong. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this place!
This restaurant is gem and one that I have been too many times. We have shared in many special moments here. From the moment you walk in your welcomed by friendly staff. Their service is top notch. Cocktails are fancy and taste amazing. The food, well the Chef and kitchen staff goes above and beyond! There is something for everyone on the menu. I have two kids who dine with us often. I’m always excited to try the specials or any of the special dining menu nights like tacos or oysters! This is a must try!!
