If you don't do anything else in Marquette make sure to stop here. It is breathtaking. Lots of scenic overlooks of Lake Superior. The lighthouse, cliffs, Sunset Point, and when the waves are hitting just right, sufers. You can park and walk or drive through the wooded area and park along the way to get out and get a better view.
We will definitely plan to spend an entire day here next visit! We had no idea how much the park had to offer. The loop is an awesome journey and every stop gives you a different view of the beautiful Lake Superior.
Presque Isle Park is a beautiful location that showcases some of the best scenery that Marquette has to offer. The park is easily accessible with plenty of parking, and has a variety of benches, seating and playground equipment. When the weather is good, the walkway to the lighthouse is open, although it's a considerable undertaking to navigate the rocks on the second section of the walkway...not recommended for small kids! My family greatly enjoys visiting here, and there are a number of community events that are hosted as well, such as concerts in the park by the Marquette City Band. Presque Isle Park is considered a nature reserve, so as of this writing no dogs allowed outside of the car.
My husband and I fell in love with this park. We were staying in Marquette for a week and went to this huge park multiple times daily. There is so much to do. So many trails and different lookout spots to take in the beautiful surroundings of Marquette and Lake Superior. Blackrock, sunset point, hiking trails, deer, black squirrels, fall foliage, beautiful sunsets and sunrises, the night sky is beautiful star gazing from this park. The milky way is very present in the night from here. There are rocks galore if you enjoy looking for rocks or pebbles to take home with you. This park was part of the many reasons I fell in love with the UP. The drive around park is lovely. We will be back. There are options for biking, hiking and driving. There are benches and seating options throughout the entire park. Highly recommend. Go see for yourself. So many breathtaking beautiful memories captured here.
Presque Isle Park is absolutely breathe taking. It was so unique and interesting to see the Black Rocks on the waters edge. My son says, "look mom it's dried lava" lol and then he asked if we were on a volcano. Super fun and educational experience for our family.
Again a beautiful place to enjoy Lake Superior . If it isn't storming make sure to check out the breakwall, the cove, black rocks, and sunset point. Drive slowly, enjoy the views, and be careful of pedestrians and bicyclists.
Good family fun park to visit. There are a couple of really cool overlook areas as well, along with Black Rocks where you can do some cliff jumping into the water. That water is cold though, so be warned. We stopped here to have a picnic lunch, then the older kids 10, 12, & 16 and I decided to try to go visit the lighthouse. The walk out there starts out innocent enough, but about half way along the actual rocks, it becomes more treacherous. It becomes more of a rock crawl than a walk with some pretty sharp rocks you have to cross. It took us a lot longer than we expected to get out there. After that, we had some ice cream, which was delicious before doing the rest of the loop. The loop was well worth it, and I would definitely recommend the stop offs at the overlook and black rocks.
Second time visiting Presque Isle recently. Absolutely beautiful and will be coming back more often as well. I couldn't have picked a more perfect day for my trip, as I was able to watch the most beautiful sunset with nary a cloud in the sky that day.
The middle waterfall area is the best! The stairs are worth it, and then you can even hike down to walk close to the pools, and see the exit they make to Lake Superior. Super dog friendly!
Went hiking around the Isle. Absolutely beautiful. Very clean! A great place to bring the family or just to get some fresh air.
