Now I understand why Julia Childs loved Pot au Feu so much. This restaurant is the next best thing to dining in Paris, France. From the French Onion cheese melting over, the large portion of Patè can be shared with 4 ppl, to the rich in flavor entrees, and ending with one of their famous mousse dessert, everything is as it should be for the best French cuisine experience here. Take the time to look at all the French decor around the restaurant too. And I save the best for last. Thank you to the whole Pot au Feu staff for the best French dining experience by far. Kid-friendliness: There is no kids menu. But, there are a couple of choices that kids can enjoy from the menu. Parking: There are a few metered parking lots around the restaurant. Or you can park on the street. Wheelchair accessibility: None at this time because dining is downstairs.
Bob Burke has kept this place in tip top shape. I remember eating in the salon years ago as a child, but it won't take me long to return. Our server was magnificent and even though I burned a menu ooops!she assured me that everyone does it- which is the true. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly option absolutely! Parking: Parking seems to be the only obstacle here. You can try and find a spot or you just pay $10 for a spur.
Pot au Feu is by far the best French cuisine in Rhode Island. I've been going eating here since the early 2000s and highly recommend it to anyone who loves French cuisine or is just curious. The atmosphere is very nice. While it's not super spacious - you have a wonderful personalized experience with your dining party and do not feel cramped. The service is superb; you are guaranteed an attentive, knowledgeable server who can help you navigate the menu. The food menu offers a wide variety of choices from house specialties to classics; the drink menu is impressive with special cocktails. I highly recommend Pot au Feu to anyone interested in fine dining at a French restaurant in an enjoyable, quaint setting.
Everything was perfect! The Boeuf a la Bourguignon and Duck with orange and raspberry reduction are amazing. The desserts are fantastic too. Our waitress was the best and extremely friendly; she recommend a bottle of wine based on prefer taste and it was spot on. When in Providence, I highly recommend this restaurant. I cannot wait to go back.
Quite possibly the best restaurant I have ever been to. Me, my brother and my fiancee came here while we were in town for a convention. The service was impeccable and the champagne delicious. We had escargot and pate trio for starters and a nice plain salad before dinner. I had the steak frites and it was cooked perfectly with an amazing sauce. My brother had a duck / sausage dish that was like a casserole and my fiance enjoyed the Pot au Feu and it was simply outstanding with amazing meats and phenomenal broth. The owner even came by to ask how we were liking our meal. I'd give this place six stars if I could.
Bread was a huge disappointment. Mushy interior with barely any crust. Like a store bought italian. It was served warm though. Butter provided was excellent. Creamy and salty. Escargot was burnt. Parsley was a burnt crust on the bottom of the serving dish. Foie gras was excellent. Creamy and flavorful with a warm cherry? compote to top with. Mushroom soup was earthy and creamy but could have used some sherry and was barely above room temperature. Boeuf a la Bourguignon was excellent although served at room temperature. Tender and excellent flavor. Gratinee potato side dish was creamy and cheesy although potatotes were undercooked. Duck was perfect. Crispy exterior and tender and moist interior and raspberry sauce was nice complement. . House potatoes side and ratatoille were excellent. Creme brulee lacked flavor and was excessively sweet. Crepes suzette was served cold and was flavorless and the crepes were like soggy crackers. Ambience was pleasant. Crowded but still comfortable. Two top table was extremely crowded. Felt like we were always knocking things over. Service was disorganized and unattentive and we were given the wrong bill at the end.
Somehow, my Open Table reservation was missing from the restaurant computer, and we had driven up from CT and gotten a hotel for the night. Bob Burke was as accommodating a host as he could be. He had an amazing table, where we were able to have a conversation throughout our meal. An "oasis" in a bustling restaurant. I confess that I forgot the waitperson 's name, but her daughter is working there as well. She gave me great recommendations, I tried her personal favorite, and the boulliabase was a dish that will bring me back,...many times. The check was quite reasonable, and the food quality is spot on. You won't leave hungry, or disappointed. Once you have enjoyed a meal, ask about the special cooking classes, where you will learn "how" to cook, not how to copy a recipe. A GREAT birthday or holiday gift to a special someone - and 3 of their friends. You don't have to believe me - go find out for yourself. Don't be afraid to dress it up a little, I am sure Bob will be wearing his bowtie!
Wonderful dinner!! We began with the crepes porkbelly and mushroom drenched in a divine sauce. I ordered the Pot au Feu. The brisket with the mustard sauce was delectable. My husband ordered the quiche which was buttery cheesey goodness. All the while our marvelous server supplied us with warm, crisp French bread. Attentive service combined with comforting cuisine. Looking forward to coming back
Such a great place for a romantic dinner. Their mushroom soup is a great way to start the meal, and their steak frites is amazing!
What a delicious and wonderful experience. Pot au Feu is a gem. Came in for the first time last night not knowing what to expect and walked out feeling very satisfied. The service/atmosphere was eclectic but great. Food was delicious. My mouth is watering at the thought of going back!
