Amazing campsite if you’re there to mountain bike! Facilities were clean enough, had a shower & toilets. And we rode 12+ miles directly from our campsite - the best kind of trailhead! Only stayed a night - on the way to Bayfield - but loved the area! Cuyuna brewing was great too!
The only reason to come to this campground is to mountain bike, and even then you have to be pretty serious about it to make it worth the money. The campsites are close together with no tree cover on most of them. The bath house barely meets that description, showers are really dirty. Nothing about this place is accessible so I wouldn't plan on coming if that is a concern. The enormous sewage lagoons just to the north of the campground give it a nice background scent of sewage most of the time. The beach is pretty much a little mud hole, very small and weedy. No structures to fish from or anything like that. The lake would probably be decent for fishing if you have a boat but shore fishing isn't really an option with all the weeds. The only drinking water in the campground is at a spigot on the back of the wash house. No wood, ice or anything else available at the campground. There are better state parks, and honestly this park would be better off experienced on a day trip.
Classic MN state park camping, nice beach and great trail access to Cuyuna! You can take a short bike ride to Crosby and get food try Red Raven for coffee! Or groceries or dinner or supplies. The lakes are also very nice and clean due to how crazy deep they are!
Typical DNR campground, with flushies and showers. Careers to the Cuyuna mountain bike crowd with direct access to the trail system. Easy access to the lake as well. Very casual and reasonably quiet. If you are looking for an incredible view from your campsite, you are in the wrong place, but it's not like an RV parking lot either. Watch out for poison ivy in the tall grass.
Sites are very close together. Very little privacy, not much shade, many black flies. Showers need to be rebuilt. Very expensive for what you get being you have to pay a additional MN park fee. The only positive is very good mountain biking very close by.
Peace and quiet mid-week! Nice to find a simple campground where the water is so clear for Scuba Diving. Many others come for the mountain bike trails, there's so much to do like fishing and kayaking, hiking, or just relax!
Campground is just OK. You come here to bike. No firewood. No dump station. Close to town. Bathhouse was not open when I was there. The one and only pit toilet was clean and well stocked with TP. Site 3 and 4 are the best in my opinion. Go clockwise around the loop to make backing in easier.
Amazing trails for all ages and experiences. Great littles beaches and pattle boarded too
Bathrooms and showers are not very nice. We feel like we have to use them very quickly. No water for water bottles or to wash dishes. The lake is nice and the spots for camping arw nice.
Near a lake-bike trails. Clean. Restrooms: Clean -sowers-hot water.
