Best burgers you can get and the only ones in a fast food chain that look like the pictures on the menu. Great quality and ingredients. Extremely consistent. Portillos may have sold out and the beef isn't the same unfortunately... on a good note the burgers are just as good as the first day I had one over 25 years ago. Service was excellent and the atmosphere is always good since delicious food makes people happy. Kid-friendliness: Just a great place for kids. McDonald's sucks.
A woman dropped a bag and the friendly folks who worked there checked it and gave her a replacement. The service is incredible. The sandwiches are the main event tho. Get the #1 and don't forget to ask for it dipped. That's the most important part. Pair with a small chocolate malt and bring a slice of their famous chocolate cake home for tomorrow. I always go to Portillo's when I'm in the Midwest.
It usually pretty good food but lately it’s been really bad and it seems like they don’t care anymore. The two ordered of large fries I ordered seem like re-heated or have there sitting as it was hard and nasty to eat. Hate to give it to my daughter so it went to trash, second was this really nasty chicken sandwich seems like they really don’t care… also went to trash. I hate to throw food away but I rather not get a stomach ache. I hope management pay attention more to this issue. This is not my first experience like this and I hate to complain but this is not right. I didn’t even bother going to return this food, waste of my time not just money.
The pasta and salads are very good but not 5 star quality. I love their cheeseburgers but no one got one this trip.
I am not usually the one to complain but our food was so burnt it was impossible to eat. There were literally charcoal pieces how burnt it was. Fries seemed like they were reheated from yesterday in a microwave. I would understand If the place so busy but they were almost completely empty and employees were just literally standing out. Just a very big disappointment for a dinner.

I have been to portillos only a handful of times over the years but after just having it again I was impressed. I know you can get a perfect chicago style hotdog, great tasting ribs, and a very tasty strawberry salad. However, i just ordered the cheeseburger and it was one of the best ive had. Thick soft bun and chargilled patty that was just the right thickness. I also ordered the big italian beef which was alot of food but not something i would order next time. They have line busting through the drive-thru which helps and they were courteous and patient. I forgot to order a drink and they offered me one at no charge. The guy outside the window helping customers was very helpful. Great team, great service, great food!
Every item is the best quality in Chicago, the fries always hit and crispy, the authentic Chicago dogs, the mouthwatering Italian beef, the juicy sausage, the amazingly smooth shakes, the pasta options are ALL good, the side items are great, it's such a wide selection, and such a wonderful building to spend time in. I will come here 5 days a week from now on. There is always a wait and I'm never mad about it because the quality if worth everything. The price, the food quality, the staff. Best Portillo's in Illinois by far. Spend the extra gas and come here! Vegetarian options: Salads and the like Kid-friendliness: High chairs and very accommodating, BIRTHDAY PARTIES!!! Parking: There's a ton of spots, you can always park here. Maybe not close to the door but that's because it's such a packed place all the time.
Portillo's has been my go-to for Chicagoland food as long as I can remember. It used to be a treat when I was a kid, it's where I had my highschool graduation party, and it's the first place I go every time I come back to visit Illinois. Even though it's probably fallen down in quality a little over the years, it will always be one of my favorite restaurants in the world just for the memories it represents for me -- and I'll always have a special plave in my heart for their Chicago dogs, Italian beefs, ribs, and Maxwell Street Polishes.
When you use the drive thru you except to have your correct order. Well, by the time I got home I realized 2 of 3 cheese fries weren't in the bag. Then the hot dog I ordered was of poor quality as it was missing sections of meat on the weiner. Once I noticed I had my child stop eating it, and I packed it all back up. I was already upset about having to drive back to correct my order. Now that I'm there, the Manager Stephanie wants to emphasize how next time I shouldn't eat the food if there's a problem with it. Does she expects my kids to stop eating their 1 order of cheese fries to take it back or how am I supposed to know there's something wrong with the hot dog without biting/eating it?! You ask why I drove 15 mins back during a snow storm just to correct this, because my kids love the cheese fries. Wish I could give 0 star for giving me attitude over a $19 order. When your manager fails your team fails.
