Established in 1979 as a Portage Faith United Methodist Church outreach program, providing nurturing, educational care for ages 6 weeks to 10 years old.
Portage Play and Learn School (PALS) opened its doors in 1981 as a small outreach program through the church and over our 31 years we have cared for and educated hundreds, if not thousands, of children. We continually seek to reach new heights and create and atmosphere where parents/guardians are comfortable knowing their children will be in the best of care during their absence. We focus on providing a warm and welcoming environment for the children to learn in, it is a critical element in their overall comfort and growth. Our teachers are caring and dedicated; they care about each and every one of the children that they care for. Our preschool program is one of the best in the county as well. We following Ohio’s early learning standards and utilize a high reach curriculum that highlights and brings out the children’s natural curiosity about the world around them. We are open from 6:30am to 6pm Monday through Friday. Along with our excellent educational experience we offer breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. We are able to do this through the help of the USDA. We participate in their CACFP which has one goal, to make balanced and nutritious meals available to all children. The best time to drop by and tour our center is between 9am and 5pm so that you can meet with our director, meet the lead teachers and get to see the classes in action.
