This is an interesting place. It is in the downtown core and not always the safest place. There are a number of stores, restaurants, and services here. There is a great selection. The casino is also in the same plaza. I would recommend staying away from the parking structure. At night, stay in the lit areas. Nanaimo is not as safe as it used to be. Still a great mall and one that I frequent regularly. Security tries but there is only so much they can do and the police do nothing
Situated at the foot of Nanaimo Harbour. Lots of amenities in the surrounding area when waiting for the ferry to Gabriola Island. Since we can’t reserve tickets, it’s best to show up early and buy your tickets. If you get there too early, Port Place is a good place to spend some time. With plenty of free parking and lots of food places to visit. Dollarama is a favorite since I can pick up cheap snacks and drinks for the ferry ride. There seems to be a bus loop nearby which offers extra convenience for those that do not drive an automobile.
I walk here from the marina. Easy walk, with a lot of options.nGrab a bite to eat, shop…basically a one stop and done for me. Everything you need is here.
DO NOT bring children here as they will likely be exposed to moral injury. The drug nightmare enabled by Canada’s governments has turned what should be a vibrant downtown into an opera of uncontrolled horrors.nnThe food supermarket somehow remains a pleasant place to shop, they have great staff and variety of products. There is a medical clinic that appears to take patients still. The coffee shop is expensive but at least has stayed in business. The restaurants are all OK.
